The local government of Albay issued an order requiring all residents to leave a 6-kilometer permanent risk zone in response to a warning from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) that the Mayon Volcano may experience a "hazardous eruption" in the upcoming days or weeks.

On Thursday, phivolcs on Mayon's slopes saw three pyroclastic density currents (PDCs), commonly known as swiftly moving avalanches of volcanic ash, rock, and gas.

🌋Numerous volcanoes can be found in the Philippines, a country with gorgeous landscapes. They serve as a constant reminder of the risks our archipelago poses in addition to adding to its beauty. Understanding volcanic activity is crucial for the wellbeing of both our communities and ourselves.

🔥An important institution for monitoring volcanic activity in the country is the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology(PHIVOLCS). They assess and release alert levels so we can be safe especially our love ones.

🔴Alert Level 0: No volcanic activity is present at this level. Despite the calm, it's critical to exercise caution because developments could happen without warning.

🟠Alert Level 1 alertness denotes a mild state of agitation. An increase in seismic activity or gas emissions may be a sign of volcanic activity. Let's follow PHIVOLCS progress to stay updated.

🟡Alert Level 2: At this level, there is a rising disturbance that portends the possibility of an eruption within a few weeks. In light of this, we ought to evaluate our emergency preparations, be prepared, and stay in touch with reputable news sources.
A significant amount of instability.

🔵 Alert Level 3, indicates that an eruption is likely to happen within a few days or weeks. Prioritizing and obeying the directives of the local authorities are crucial.

⚫ 4 - Obey official directives: Act swiftly to comply with local authorities' orders to leave. Your security is their top priority.

Be helpful to one another: Pay attention to your neighbors, particularly the kids, the elderly, and those who have special needs. Let's get together as a community and lend a hand.

Keep in mind that preparation and understanding are essential to reducing the risks posed by volcanic eruptions. Let's prioritize safety in these challenging times, keep ourselves informed, and lend a hand to one another.

Marie Curie’s Doctoral Thesis.

Marie Skłodowska Curie defended her doctoral thesis on radioactive substances at Université de la Sorbonne in Paris on 25 June 1903 – becoming the first woman in France to receive a doctoral degree.

The examination committee expressed the opinion that Curie's findings, including the determination of radium’s atomic weight, represented the greatest scientific contribution ever made in a doctoral thesis.

In the committee’s three members were two future Nobel Prize laureates: Gabriel Lippmann (Physics 1908) and Henri Moissan (Chemistry 1906).
