SOARING WITH THE WINGS OF EDUCATION: LAA 2020 Teachers' Day Celebration
Cradled in our chaste juvenescence, we were ones to see things as partial and dense as it seems, and not once looking back at how we left our toys at the green, green lawn, or our food crumbs on the wooden floor. We, who were left in front of our televisions, sought comfort in our all-time Pixar and Walt Disney movies, for in those we found our polar identities. Amid the differences, these movies instilled in our hearts and minds that we could be as red, fiery, and brave as Merida, as icy and vigorously letting go like Queen Elsa, a savior of an Emperor as Mulan, and an effective teacher as Moana’s Gramma Tala.
Yes, they were fictional people, yet along with our parents, relatives, friends, random faces on cartoons, and of course, teaches, aspirations were imprinted in us. Aspirations, Dreams, HOPE. Hope that filled gentleness to edges that were too sharp, hope that said, “don’t just fly, soar!” (Dumbo), hope that put vividity on a grayscaled room, hope that states, “believe you can, then you will” (Mulan), hope from God, and hope that teachers in Lipa Adventist Academy have continually imparted in us.
On the 5th day of October 2020, we, as students will be the ones giving them great hope as we celebrate Teachers' day! The day of their rest and love fulfilled by students who continually grew with them in years. Kwen Irish Fabon, a grade 12 student, with a majestic plan in her mind, saw the cartoon-like vision of giving them the utmost happiness with the bare efforts of every student. Her aim of giving them a tribute through a music video of students singing “You are the Reason” of Sylvia Wong, as a token of our appreciation, and their hard work on struggling with the new normal and still giving us the magic of learning despite the CoVid-19 situation.
Behold, as a child, we were dependent on fairytales as learning of some sort. But as we age, we now depend on those who truly work magic on our minds and will give us what they thought was impossible, but actually wasn’t. Yes, our teachers. We devote this, solely, for teachers. Them who, with every word uttered to educate, and every stride to dignify the institution, are who we call our guardians. No amount of growing up with such fairytales could measure up to how we grew in your care. Thank you for being the reason for our bright lives ahead. Soar in education, our beloved teachers!
