Happy Long Weekend everyone.

May we all be reminded ‘everyday’ that Christ died over 2,000 years ago as our ransom because of our inherited and committed sins. And He resurrected, conquered death and redeemed us from sin thereby confirming His promised eternal life to all who believe and trust in His atoning blood. And it is the essence of the Holy Week. Hence, the resurrection of Jesus, as described in the New Testament of the Bible, is essentially the foundation upon which the Christian religions are built.

So one may ask, what makes us or anyone a Christian?

First, at some point of our lives we hear and understand the message of the gospel, which is that God sent His one and only Son into the world to live a sinless life as a man in a body of flesh and died on the cross to pay out sin's eternal penalty and raised from the grave on the third day.

The Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin which make us uncomfortably aware of the fact that our sin will spiritually separate us from our Holy and Loving God. The conviction prompts us to humble our hearts before God, change our mind that we need a Savior, and we ask in simple faith for the forgiveness that Jesus purchased us with His blood.

God forgives us of every sin we have ever committed or ever will commit (but this doesn’t mean we continue sinning for this leads us to hypergrace) so we have Christ's perfect righteousness attributed to us by faith. The Holy Spirit takes up residence in our spirit to continue to convict us of sin and gradually conform us to the image of Christ, and that we have become a new creation in Christ.

Remember that it is a gift, not a prize or a reward. We don't deserve it, we cannot earn it, and we can never lose it. (Galatians 2:8-9)
