MTDC re-echoes stern warn against illegal land claims, scam
By Lejan Dayagan Jr and Apple Gella

MALUNGON, Sarangani Province (February 03, 2022) – A ‘fuming’ Mayor Tessa D. Constantino issued a harsh warning against those fake organizations that are spearheading unlawful incursions' in several IP communities under the guise of being assigned to work on the reclamation of ancestral lands.

“We must follow what the NCIP laws provide on our land claims.

Constantino’s action that was followed by a stern directive for local authorities to apprehend was stressed following reports of various groups that are persuading tribes to come and support their campaign of regaining back the legally acquired or purchased lands without even consulting or visiting the Local Government Unit of the said town.

This stemmed from earlier claims that certain people had been requesting monetary support and membership contributions from the poor and highland dwellers with the promise of giving them a specific piece of land, which ultimately turned out to be a deceptive hoax. (MIO News Team/ ippalma)

By Isagani P. Palma (MIO)

Malungon, Sarangani (October 02, 2021) – The newly assigned Sarangani Police Director said there will be no personnel changes in the SPPO command offices, as he assured Sarangans of a secure and well-guarded AOR against any unwanted circumstance that might provoke or challenge the province's current peaceful ambiance.

Police Col. Nicomedes P. Olaivar, who took over as new SPPO director on Thursday last week vice the outgoing chief, Col. Michael F. Lebanan, made the announcement amid a courtesy visit to Mayor Tessa D. Constantino here, October 01.

Aside from those who will go to school and be charged with other responsibilities by the Regional Command-12 Office, he said designated personnel in the various Sarangani-based offices will be at ease.

“So far ay wala tayong reshuffling. Pwede na magkakaroon tayo nito (re-assignments) pero due sa order na coming from the regional command. Siguro ay maaring may mga mapapalitan as replacements doon sa mag schooling, pero dito lang din sa atin sa SPPO mangagaling ang mga papalit sa pwesto,” said the soft spoken gentleman officer.

Olaivar’s visit was accompanied by MPS COP P/Major Yolyneil Intong. This was warmly welcomed by Constantino and was fitted with the modest serving of "kakanin" and a brief discussion about the municipality's current law and order situation.

Olaivar also claimed to be well familiar with his assigned jurisdiction, having previously served the SPPO leadership as Provincial Police Director for Operations (PPDO) in 2017.

Prior to his new assignment, he worked as the head of the Regional Headquarters Support Division, under the command of the concurrent Pro-12 Chief Police Major Gen. Michael John F. Dubria. He was also the former commander and DDPA in Lanao Del Norte in Region-10.

He also requested that the Municipal Information Office express his utmost gratitude to Sarangani Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon, the local gov’t chief executives of the seven comprising municipalities, and most especially Major General Dubria for the trust and confidence in him to serve and watch over Sarangani Province. “They (clients) have not formally taken their graduation rites dahil nga naabutan tayo ng lockdown.

Police-12, LGU welcomes back new batch of ‘red’ returnees
Isagani Palma (MIO)

Maasim, Sarangani Province (October 30, 2020) – POLICE and local government authorities here presented a batch of 31 former hardcore NPA guerrillas of the MAKIMA-based (Maasim, Kiamba and Maitum) CPP-NPA Front 73 on Wednesday, October 28.

The group of former rebels was welcomed by Brigadier General MICHAEL JOHN F. DUBRIA, Police Director for Central Mindanao Region; Maasim town Mayor Zyrex C. Pacquiao, Sarangani Police Provincial Director, PCol. Michael F. Lebanan, representatives from various government-line agencies, and other police and AFP ranking officials in a simple yet formal acceptance ceremony that was highlighted in accordance with the government’s “End Local Communist and Armed Conflict” or ELCAC program.

Dubria said the fresh set of surrenderees lifted the recent number of more or less 260 former New People’s Army insurgents that earlier returned to the folds of the law, bringing along with them an assortment of several hundred fi****ms, explosives, ammunition and subversive documents.

He said the consistent thrust of law enforcers to maintain law and order even in the midst of the ongoing pandemic, has not only given the chance to the ex-members of the communist armed group to avail the government beneficial support, but likewise the opportunity to enjoy the right to live as a common tao and productive members of the society.

The 33 year-old amazon, Evelyn (not her real name), who is a mother of 3 young siblings said - “Sobra-sobra na gyud ang kalisud sa among kahimtang ug kahadlok sa bukid mao nga nidisisyon me pagbalik sa sabakan sa atong gobyerno. Mao, nga karon pa lang namatikdan na gyud nako ug sa akong bana (also a returnee) ang mamahimong kaayuhan sa among kinabuhi. (We had suffered too much in the mountain, same as to our fear that make us to decide of returning back to the government. Thus, as of now, I and my husband have already felt the would be changes in our lives).

“The government will provide you the assistance you need to enhance your learning and technical skills through proper training, including fair and honest protection upon your return. That, as long as you have not committed serious crimes and will push through on your pledge to be by now a law abiding citizen of our nation,” Duria told the returnees in a vernacular.

Mayor Pacquaio, who also initiated the surrender by campaigning the reconciliation process of the government, too committed the assistance that the LGU could provide, in a bid to put a dot against insurgency movement in his AOR.

Meanwhile, Congressman Ruel D. Pacquiao, through representative Ms. Adeline Jalagpas, likewise distributed rice, food packs and different kinds of aid through the “Ronda sa Probinsiya Program.”

This includes the call for those who would like to avail the provision of educational support through the Congressional Office scholarship grants and – TESDA, or the government-run Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
