Non-government organizations have effectively utilized social media platforms to expand their reach and to disseminate further their campaigns. This is because, globally, there is a continuous growth of social media users.
If organizations have a segmentation of younger generations as their target audience, then going digital is the best platform to communicate their messages.
One example of this organization is ChildFund Philippines, a non-government organization that is funded by the State Labor Department of the United States of America that advocates ending the child labor practices in the country.
In Northern Mindanao, ChildFund Philippines partners with another NGO, the Kaanib Foundation, to push with their campaigns in Bukidnon province.
The organizations are aggressive in educating grassroots communities about child labor. They also provide livelihood assistance to the parents so that they will no longer engage their children in hazardous work activities.
Aside from this, ChildFund Philippines also start to use social media. And one of their contents is an online talk show about their causes.
RodMedia is contracted by ChildFund Philippines to produce their online talk show. Using video streaming tools, the digital show "Bata ang Bida" dishes out inspirational stories of former child laborers and interviews with local officials on their efforts to stop child labor in their community.
RodMedia handles the entire production of Bata and Bida, from scriptwriting and video editing to live to stream.
