You—regardless of the strength of your gossip radar—will smell that something's up from a mile away. And when you rise through the ranks? That’s when you know these “scandals” are inescapable.
So what do you do when it happens to you? Do you throw etiquette out the window or do you go high when they go low? Let our Stunning Satire Specialist show you how to navigate through these sticky situations.

What sets designer and niche scents apart? Is one better than the other? The answer lies in one's personal preference, but understanding their origins, the noses behind them, and their unique characteristics is key to appreciating both. Designer and niche perfumes each have their own allure, with some in-betweens that aim to offer the best of both worlds. Here, writer and fraghead Denise Manahan dissects the scent categories and the ways in which we can enjoy, explore, and celebrate them all.

"I want to live in a world where inclusivity and representation are norms, not goals," says beauty creator and writer Firas Abboud.
In this think piece, Abboud looks back at his colorful journey in beauty: from when he first started to wear makeup in 2011, a time when "representation" of LGBTQIA+ in beauty was far from his mind; to today, in 2024, when he sits front and center, witnessing the latest beauty launches unfold. Rejuran, a revolutionary injectable treatment from Korea made of polynucleotides (PN) from wild salmon s***m DNA, has been taking the aesthetic industry by storm for its ability to rejuvenate the skin from within. Since introduction to the Philippines last September, it’s now available in over 200 clinics nationwide, establishing itself as a major innovation in aesthetic treatments.
Last week at Shangri-La at The Fort, we got a chance to learn about Rejuran’s new training program, the Rejuran Philippine Academy, a partnership between and .aesthetics , Rejuran’s distributor in the Philippines. This isn’t just any training program, it’s a major step forward for Philippine aesthetics!
We had esteemed doctors from Korea join us to share their insights about the Rejuran Academy’s launch here in the Philippines. TritanMed Senior Vice President for Research and Development Dr. Sandy Tan and PharmaResearch Regional Manager Olivia Kim first shared with us how the Academy, led by Rejuran Master Trainers and Certified Injector Trainers, provides our local injectors with both theoretical and hands-on experience, which means that you can trust that your injector received thorough training. For those who have yet to try Rejuran, Dr. Sandy also shed light on the science behind the treatments, which unlike fillers, work with your own body’s natural processes!
Plus, the Academy benefits extend far beyond the injectors themselves, because it benefits the patients too! Highly trained injectors translate to better results and a more comfortable experience for everyone. Skilled injectors can lessen discomfort and make the procedure a breeze, so you can confidently seek treatments knowing you’re in expert hands.
Guests were even treated to a first glimpse into upcoming lectures by Rejuran’s Global Key Opinion Leaders. Dr. Michael Kim and Dr. Park Hyun Jun who shared valuable insights and success stories from their vast experience with Rejuran treatments. With their expertise, the Academy is sure to raise the bar for aesthetic medicine in the country. ✨

We finally get our first Maison Margiela fragrances stand-alone boutique at after a couple of years since Replica by Maison Margiela became available in the Philippines! Woot! ✨
This niche fragrance house have always held a special place in our hearts, having collected various “memories” of it through the years, and so we were thrilled to have been able to share this special experiece to some of The Beauty Edit’s fragrance fanatics when the boutique officially opened.
Maison Margiela APAC retail education manager Lynn Chow asked us about top-of-mind memories that scents remind us, from favorite travel destinations, a family member, or a loved one to carefree moments and childhood highlights. Replica, after all, is about bottling memories, and as much as these are universal experiences, they are as much a personal and individual journey through scents.
We traversed through one experience to the next, via Replica’s 16 fragrances on display, including special mentions such as the Lazy Sunday Morning, Sailing Day, and By The Fireplace, as well as its newest release, called From The Garden.
Following the boutique tour, guests engaged in a tomato planting activity, which brought out the very essence of Replica’s newest masterpiece From The Garden. Created by perfumer Olivier Cresp and his son Sebastien Cresp, From The Garden bottles the experience of digging one’s hands into rich soil and harvesting juicy, ripe tomatoes. It was indeed a unique and memorable way to discover From The Garden and its Tomato Leaf Accord.
We are grateful to have an insightful and inspiring afternoon with the members of our community and our brand partners at Maison Margiela Replica and . We hope to see next in The Editor’s Room!
If you’re someone who cherishes time in the bathroom, you would understand the joy of long showers and savoring the scents of your favorite products. This appreciation soon evolves into valuing the steps and scents that define the experience.
But why do we favor certain scents in our skin and body care routines? Mark Zavalla of candle and home scent studio SAAN SAAN explains, "Scent is wildly subjective and intimately linked to our behavior and state of mind."
In this story, Jacque de Borja-Medestomas investigates the indulgence of why—and how—scents can elevate our daily rituals, from our morning routines to our nighttime baths. Discover how the right scents can enhance mindfulness and transform bathroom routines with our curated product list.

The conversation around period products has definitely evolved, breaking historical stigmas and achieving milestones like the first mention of “period” in an ad by Courteney Cox in 1985. From ancient materials like lint or buffalo skin to modern cloth pads and menstrual cups, the innovation in period products has been remarkable.
Today, women have access to a lot of different options including menstrual cups, period panties, and organic cotton pads. Are these new products better at preventing leaks, ensuring comfort, and being more hygienic? Janis Ian Gopez explores the pros and cons of the latest menstrual products available on the market, providing insights into what might work best for you.

The perfect way to end our workweek—an intimate brunch in The Editor’s Room featuring Two Lips, a luxurious—and complete—intimate care brand from Singapore.
Managing Director for Strip Manila and Browhaus Tab Abad shed light on what sets Two Lips apart from other intimate care brands. The brand is known for its intimate care products designed with top-quality ingredients and gentle formulations, but with a surprising twist: These products don’t just cater to your most delicate area, but to the entire body–yes, the face included! From cleansers and serums to masks and moisturizers, the Two Lips range can provide a solution for many skin concerns on different parts of the body.
Attendees were given the chance to experience firsthand the products’ texture as well as their gentle yet effective formulations. Strip Manila and Browhaus Marketing Head Monique Jamlang shared how the products are packed with ingredients that cleanse and soothe, along with prebiotics that promote a healthy skin microbiome–the ecosystem of bacteria on our skin crucial for our overall well-being.
Afterward, we had a deep dive forum led by renowned dermatologist Dr. Anna Palabyab-Rufino and esteemed OB-GYN Dr. Anafe Orbigoso-Gloria. The discussion went beyond women’s intimate health, too, as the doctors likewise addressed men’s intimate health concerns to ensure a truly inclusive approach to wellness.🌷

"You don’t look like a mom.”
I’ve had a few people say this to me during my early years as a mother. I was barely 30 years old when I gave birth to my first child, and my body was quick to return to my pre-pregnancy figure. My mom was slim when she was younger, too, so I have genetics to thank. Plus, my son nursed like there’s no tomorrow, deflating me faster than any diet could.
Was I lucky? I guess so. But did I like being told that I didn’t look like a mom? I won’t lie—I kinda did.
I was tired, sleep-deprived, and felt blah-looking most of the time. I had stretch marks, my hair was falling off, and had my discolored armpits hidden under cute clothes. My showers were always hurried, I no longer had time for mani-pedis, and I could barely put on any makeup. Such is the reality of motherhood. If by saying “You don’t look like a mom,” they meant I looked like my younger, non-mom self, I was ready to take it.
Two kids and almost a decade later, I know better. It wasn’t a compliment after all.
It’s a statement that reflects deeply ingrained societal prejudices—one that speaks loudly of the unrealistic standards expected of women, and which perpetuates the idea that we should look a certain way. “You don’t look like a mom.” Do you mean I ought to be frumpy, fat, and unkempt just because I birthed and am caring for a tiny human? What are moms supposed to look like, anyway?
Can you relate? Beauty journalist, longtime editor, and mom Elaine Reyes explores beauty, biases, and motherhood in this relatable think piece.

What they don’t tell you in the delivery room is that after you give birth, two people are born: first, the tiny infant covered in wax and blood, shrieking as they take their first gulps of air and release their first sounds; and that tired, sweaty woman, swaddled in shock and awe, also crying. The latter is likely from the joy of creating another human, but also very feasibly—and she’ll understand this when the anesthetics wear off—the realization that she’s a new person: a mom.
Much has been written about motherhood, but in this story, journalist and mom of two Sasha Lim Uy Mariposa explores something not often discussed, but all moms will know and remember for the rest of their lives.

It’s hard to imagine selling off a beauty brand one has worked so hard for—let alone handing over the reins to a new leader. But for many brands, being acquired by bigger conglomerates is the way to go for multiple reasons: to reach wider markets, be backed by more funding, and for expansion. And for successful brand acquisitions, it’s helped worthy and iconic products become the top-shelf picks of editors and experts, achieve holy grail status, or be considered cult faves by a wide market.
From the legendary Laura Mercier to fashion house Tom Ford that’s successfully expanded to beauty, and the disruptive and bold Kylie Cosmetics, we take a look at how these major acquisitions have made a massive difference and impact on these brands.

Why do many Filipinos feel insecure about the shape of their noses? Per a journal study, it’s shown that nose shapes across the world may be related to temperature and absolute humidity—wider noses are more common in warmer, more humid climates, while narrower noses are more common in opposite climates. Narrower nasal airways may help people in colder, drier climates warm and humidify air, so it may explain why Asians and Africans typically have wider nostrils and nasal airways. But that evolutionary advantage doesn’t stop Filipinos from feeling insecure about their noses.
In this story, journalist Monique Buensalido takes a closer look into the complex relationship between Filipinos and their noses, a feature deeply ingrained in cultural identity yet often a source of insecurity. Plus, a detailed guide on the surgical and non-surgical options for nose enhancements, and firsthand accounts from those who've done it.

Part 1 of our favorite finds from #MitsukoshiBeauty. Do not sleep on the last product we talked about in this video! What some don’t know is that many of our favorites from Japan, as well as cult J-Beauty brands are now available at Mitsukoshi Beauty in BGC (and online at its official Lazada store). The store is compact enough not to overwhelm, and big enough to feature the best variety. Here we share some essentials we think are worth discovering. #Naturie’s Hatumogi Skin Conditioner is a staple in Japan and used by 1 in 5 women! We discovered this several years ago through the recommendation of a friend, and have hoarded this ever since. You can imagine how delighted we are it’s finally here at such an accessible price point. Waphyto is a premium, plant-based skincare line that uses the finest ingredients. We have relied on this for skin emergencies, as well as scalpcare. A must-discover when you go to Mitsukoshi BGC. Maxwell’s Angelique shaver is the best we’ve tried for our brows. We used to buy this in Hong Kong, but now it’s here! We like how it is able to shape our brows better and faster. K-Palette needs no introduction. Its Real Lasting Eyebrow is a testament to Japanese brands’ commitment to making truly groundbreaking products that become holy grails. This iconic brow pen has reformulated just a few times since it launched, and will always be something we keep going back to. #Kobako is a famous beauty tools brand in Japan. Every product we’ve tried from Kobako just makes us believe. Take for instance the eyelash curler–the lightest, handiest one that truly does the job. Check it out and how it works for us in the video. Finally, #Canmake’s new Metal Look Mascara is another holy grail in the making. The metal wand is designed to create clustered lashes that look like extensions. It delivers as promised and holds the lift and curl all day and without smearing and smudging. A MUST-HAVE.

Just wanted to take this moment to share our appreciation for one of our favorite blush palettes ever! We created this set through @grwmcosmetics’ Quad Goals. Perfect for those who use multiple blush shades at a time (so maybe all of us?!). Pigmented, blendable, long-lasting, it’s as good as our Pat McGraths (can’t believe it too!). Each quad is just P299. Of course, the selection goes beyond 10 shades of blushes—the line also has highlighters and bronzers. The combinations are endless!
Best ways to make our favorite @maisonfranciskurkdjian Aqua Media Cologne Forte last even longer! We love that this favorite MFK is available in hand and body wash, soap, and lotion ancillaries @rustansthebeautysource ✨ Aqua Media is a sparkling, citrus, aromatic green scent–fresh and electric with bergamot and verbena, and botanical with sweet fennel, green moss, aniseed, a base of woody musks, a hint of patchouli, and matcha tea somewhere, a whiff reminscent of a green tea perfume we’ve known for years. This is “the embodiment of balance and harmony,” according to MFK. “This eau de parfum opens a window to an infinite, boundlessly fresh, idyllic landscape, where the wind in the wildgrass seems to engage in a dialog with the murmuring of serene white-water.” We say it’s Aqua Media is true to its references. Similar to the rest in the Cologne Forte line, Aqua Media is impressive for its longevity and complexity. 🍵
Filipinos are known to embrace and celebrate anything that evokes our culture and identity, whether it’s Jollibee, one-half of Vanessa Hudgens, or our uncanny knack for conquering Miss Universe—except for our nose shape. There are many physical features that most Filipinos share, from our kayumanggi skin (brown skin) to our dark hair, but perhaps none as prominent and popular as our distinctly flat noses. “Tayo’y mga Pinoy, tayo’y hindi ‘Kano; ‘wag kang mahihiya kung ang ilong mo ay pango,” is a sentiment iconicized by Filipino folk rock superstar Heber Bartolome in the ’70s, sampled and remade by other musical legends like Francis Magalona, Freddie Aguilar, Aegis, and Ely Buendia. We look at the Filipino nose, hear from fellow Filipinos who have undergone procedures to enhance their noses, talk to certified surgeons in the art and science of enhancing noses in this story by Monique Buensalido. Jo Malone London have always excelled at crafting unique limited edition collections. In collaboration with Paddington, the iconic bear in British culture, it has unveiled a fun and delightful new collection featuring this fresh cologne inspired by Paddington’s favorite treat, Orange Marmalade. Why? “Simply because we adore Orange Marmalade too,” shares the brand. Fresh, zesty, herbal, and quite woody (orange peel on top; bitter orange in the middle; cashmere wood and clary sage in the base), this is a nice unisex citrus that works well for our climate. Surprisingly not a sweet/ gourmand scent as you’d assume for it’s name, but we think that makes this creation easy to wear and uncomplicated. It is quintessentially British. Now at all @jomalonelondon boutiques in the Philippines. #JustBecause #JoMaloneLondonPH

Whether you’re searching for a signature scent or exploring new olfactory horizons in Paris, @jovoyparis is a must-visit destination if you’re a fan of fine perfumes. #parisperfumes #jovoy #jovoyparis #fraghead #fragheadph
In this edition of The Editor’s Room at @lookatme_ph featuring @hudabeauty, we gathered for a Peach versus Pink masterclass and learned color correction tips and tricks from the pros themselves. ✨ The star of the show was Huda Beauty’s peach and pink color correctors. Huda Beauty Philippines brand manager Christine Felix and senior product executive Iryna Llamas introduced the Easy Bake Loose Powder and Easy Bake Pressed Powder in a universally flattering Peach Pie shade and the all-new #FauxFilter Color Corrector in Cherry Blossom. It was definitely a fun-filled afternoon that had guests leaving armed with new makeup knowhow, newfound friends in beauty (yay! 🤗), and of course, new makeup from Huda Beauty. Til the next!
In this edition of The Editor’s Room featuring Rejuran, beauty enthusiasts gathered at Shangri-La the Fort in Taguig to learn all about the revolutionary skin healer and rejuvenating treatment, as well as the newly launched Rejuran Philippine Academy. Here we share our key takeaways about how perfumes are made, what truly matters, and some insider secrets we were made to understand. We tried to condense every important detail in this video, so do take your time to watch if you’re a perfume lover! The highlight of the workshop, of course, was making our own perfume. The workshop fee included one 50ml personalized fragrance, but we just decided to pay extra for another bottle since we couldn’t decide on just one. ✨ 📍 @candoraparis Got Qs? We recently brought together some fragrance fanatics from our community to discover the newest from @narciso_rodriguez—Musc Nude For Her and Vetiver Musc For Him. These were our scents for the summer and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have been able to share these with you! #Narcisorodriguez Musc Nude is true to its name—it’s like the essence of bare skin after a warm, creamy bath bottled. It’s got that signature musc base, with a floral note that peeks through. A little tip? You can can layer this with the classic Pure Musc. Spray it before Musc Nude to intensify the skin scent element and temper the florals. Instantly it feels elegant, understated, but so present. Vetiver Musc is a beautiful work! We love this scent. The first spray we get greens, before woodsy vetiver hits us. It’s softened by this incredible musk that Narciso is famous for. It’s like walking through a lush, green forest after the rain—fresh, revitalizing, yet deeply comforting. Ladies and men like wearing this. Over cocktails and delectable bites, we also got to chat and enjoy the company of each other—which is what always deeply treasure. Till our next get together! Make sure to be a member to get invites to our intimate events—link in bio to sign up. 🫶✨ Shop Narciso Rodriguez at @rustansthebeautysource, @smbeautyph, Lazada and at leading department stores nationwide.
Simply put, the @dyson_ph Airstrait is every woman’s dream! Everything good thing you’ve heard about it is true—it dries the hair quickly while straightening it without heat plates. It is truly life changing for people like me whose only route to straight hair prior to the existence of this wonder are monthly straightening treatments at the salon or daily hour-long styling and ironing routines. Is it worth its P33,900 price tag? For what we consider the beauty innovation of the decade, how truly well-built Dyson hair products are (we have them all!), and the many years you’ll probably be using it, we’d say yes! #dysonairstrait
Artisanal fragrance house Le Labo is finally available in Manila with its newly opened first boutique at Greenbelt 5. A name known to many perfume aficionados, the brand is known for perfumes with a single dominant note complemented by a unique combination of other scents, using the highest quality ingredients. There’s only a handful in its lineup, which we appreciate because it makes finding The One easy and not overwhelming. Our The One has always been Santal 33—the only bottle we have in full size—and was a blind buy and an acquired taste for us. The rest in our collection include travel sizes of Rose 31 and Another 13. What we feel are truly worthwhile must-buys and perhaps great entry points to the brand if you’re just starting are the bath products! Don’t sleep on the Hinoki bath products—they smell great and linger for hours on the hair and body. These have long been staples in our bathroom and so you could imagine how happy we are to be able to replenish easily now it’s here! More @lelabofragrances branches opening soon ✨Tell us your favorites or scents you’re curious about ⬇️ #lelaboph #lelabo
