Earthly treasures decay and are vulnerable to be stolen. Men expend great effort and invest large sums to protect their earthly possessions, but they cannot guarantee their security. And ultimately, they must leave them behind. When we serve God, our reward of Heavenly treasure is locked up, as it were, in an impregnable fortress, and it will never decay nor fade.

Morning Reflection

Title: Where Is Your Burden?

Verse:
“Lumapit kayo sa akin, kayong lahat na nahihirapan at nabibigatang lubha sa inyong pasanin, at kayo’y bibigyan ko ng kapahingahan. Pasanin ninyo ang aking pamatok at sundin ninyo ang aking mga itinuturo sapagkat ako’y maamo at mapagkumbabang loob. Matatagpuan ninyo sa akin ang kapahingahan sapagkat madaling dalhin ang aking pamatok at magaan ang pasaning ibinibigay ko sa inyo.”

Matthew 11:28–30

Pagod ka na rin ba at naghahanap ng kapahingahan? Well, good news – sa araw na ito we are going to start a new series called “Finding Rest and Comfort in the Lord”. May today’s devo enlighten and give you rest as you focus on Jesus.

The Jews consider themselves as God’s nation. Kadugtong ng pagiging Judio nila ang pagsunod sa napakaraming utos mula pa sa panahon ni Moses. Jews are expected to follow 613 commandments. Kasama dito ang positive commandments o ang mga dapat gawin, at ang negative commandments o ang mga dapat iwasan.

Imagine this heavy burden they carried all their lives! Bawat segundo, maingat nilang sinusunod ang Kautusan. When Jesus came, everything changed. Sinabi ni apostle John tungkol dito, “For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17, NASB). Matthew, in today’s passage, quotes Jesus’ invitation to help. Jesus is saying, “Magpahinga na kayo mula sa bigat ng dala-dala ninyo. You can find rest in Me.”

Jesus is offering not the burden of following the 613 commandments but a personal relationship with God through Him. Dahil dumating na Siya we are not under Law anymore but under God’s grace. Nangibabaw ang kabutihan ng Diyos at pinapalapit Niya tayo sa Kanya.

Are you crushed by the weight of guilt and shame? Hirap na hirap ka na bang abutin ang standards ng religion? It’s time to lay your burdens down and rest in Jesus. It’s the reason why He came.

LET’S PRAY
Dear Jesus, pagod na po ako sa bigat ng dinadala ko. All my life I have been trying to follow all the rules to be considered good para lang tanggapin Mo ako. But now I have realized na hindi ko na kailangang gawin ito. I accept Your invitation and ask that You come into my heart. In Your name, Amen.
