*The All Souls' Day, more popularly known as "Kalag Kalag" in Bisaya, is solemnly celebrated in the Philippines every November 2 of each year.

This is a day where people serve all sorts of offerings to love ones who have departed this life, such as their favorite dish or wine when they were still around. Some would offer ci******es, toys for the young, flowers, and some would simply be prayers by the family.

More than just a ceremony in remembrance of the dead, it is believed that on this one day, the souls are allowed to comeback and visit the living - and they are thought of being able to consume these gifts and offerings.

It is also on this day that Filipinos who dwell in the major cities take a leave for their hometown in order to visit the cemeteries.

MAY EVERYONE HAVE A PEACEFUL AND SOLEMN CELEBRATION OF THE ALL SOULS DAY!

GOOD OR BAD PUBLICITY IS STILL PUBLICITY. True, if this statement was merely to refer to what "publicity" is.

However, to adopt this as a social media strategy is a dangerous misguide.

Remember that the fundamental end goal of publicity efforts is to influence decision-making - which ultimately results in mobilizing a targeted audience.

Bad Publicity is demotivating and repulsive. It makes recipients of information to "not act", if not "totally disengage" from a lobbied agenda.

I hope that by the next time I learn someone says, "good or bad publicity is still publicity," it doesn't come from a hired publicist or social media strategist. That would be the lamest excuse for a publicity-stunt-gone-bad.
