Nike Dunk Low “Setsubun” for Good Fortune

Let good fortune in with the Nike Dunk Low “Setsubun”. This dunk was inspired by Japan’s Setsubun Festival. The Japanese celebrate the festival every year. Locals have another term for the Setsubun Festival— the Bean-Throwing Festival. On the day of the festival, they throw dry soybeans to drive away demons and evil spirits and invite good fortune in.

The Nike Dunk Low “Setsubun” comes in a combination of earth colors. A light brown base provides the perfect background for the beige leather upper with a subtle cracked texture. The suede overlays in dark brown and khaki complete the over-all color scheme. Contrast is provided by the purple swoosh, collar and tongue lining. The festival theme is ever-present with the embroidered purple “demon” on the heel.

But there’s more to the Nike Dunk Low “Setsubun” than meets the eye. A quick peek inside the shoe reveals customs insoles with an interesting design by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, a master of the ukiyo-e style painting. The master’s “Kintoki Throwing Beans at Fleeing Demons” painting unifies the overall theme of the dunks.

GCash now PH mobile wallet giant with 71M registered users

GCash is now the country’s undisputed top mobile wallet as its registered users in the Philippines increased by over 300 percent in the last three years.

“Gcash now has 71 million registered users,” Globe Telecom Inc’s Senior VP for Communications and Global Chief Sustainability Officer Yolly Crisanto said during Globe’s Media Appreciation Party held at Dusit Thani Hotel last Friday.

Pre-pandemic (as of 2019), GCash had 20 million registered users and over 63,000 partner merchants. This doubed to 46 million users and at least 2.5 million partner merchants in 2021.

GCash is owned by Mynt, formerly known as Globe Fintech Innovations, Inc. Mynt is a joint venture among the following:
