Graduating students gather in a job fair organized by DCT in coordination with DOLE and PESO, as the students are in a lookout for a career opportunity, Thursday, February 16 at the BP. JJ. Sison Covered Court.

Dominican College of Tarlac (DCT) held a job fair on campus to provide employment opportunities to graduating students on February 16, 2022. The event was coordinated by Ma'am Catherine Santos with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), which provided companies and invited speakers for the fair.

During the event, various companies offered different job opportunities, and speakers provided insights on what skills and preparations students need to be equipped with for their chosen fields of work. The speakers also discussed essential things to remember, such as the mandatory requirements like SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG.

One of the companies that joined the fair was Glen Juiao from the company of Alorica Clark, which is looking for individuals with excellent communication skills and the commitment to work in a stressful situation in the BPO industry. According to Glen, the Recruitment Marketing Associate for External Relations, as long as one's capabilities are enough, anyone can work in a call center company.

Jovan Carlos, another company representative, said that their company has a lot of opportunities, and they look for different qualities depending on the courses the students take. He also emphasized that the qualification to get hired depends on the interview results and a well-prepared resume.

Ma'am Catherine Santos helped coordinate the job fair and graced the event. According to her, the fair aimed to provide graduating students with an idea of what to prepare when they enter the workforce, such as SSS, PhilHealth, and PagIBIG. She also mentioned that many students applied to the companies that participated in the fair, providing them with opportunities to land a job after graduation.

Lorence Faculanan from AB Plosci, who attended the fair, said it helped their mindset and prepared them for future employment. He believes that the event helped him grow as an individual and prepare himself for his career in the future.

Sir Peter Jaimon Matulac, who also joined the fair as a speaker from DOLE, emphasized that one of the benefits of attending a campus-based job fair is gaining confidence through experience. He believes that since it is conducted inside the school, the students have a home-court advantage, which reduces nervousness and allows them to answer questions more confidently.

Lastly, Kristel, a BSTM 4-A running for a Latin Honor, shared her future career goal of applying to Macau hotels abroad. She previously worked in Dubai and at a casino and managed to balance her work and studies. Kristel is confident that she will continue to be successful in her career and achieve her dreams.

According to the organizers, 537 students attended the event. Overall, the DCT job fair was a success, providing graduate students with employment opportunities and a chance to learn about what they need to prepare for when they enter the workforce. The fair helped them gain confidence and prepare themselves for their future careers.

Various departments open different booths alongside the covered court in preparation to accommodate Dominikanos with their unique gimmicks.

Dominican College of Tarlac (DCT) started the opening of booths early on February 14, as it showcased different booths created by its various departments and organizations inside the vicinity of DCT Campus as part of its 77th founding anniversary.

The event, which ran throughout the day, was a big hit among students and faculty members.

One of the most popular booths was the Student Emergency Response Team's (SERT) "Ungot:Alpasan Stress Relief Booth." It provided a unique and innovative way for students to release their pent-up emotions by allowing them to destroy an object. Students found the experience therapeutic and a great way to relieve stress.

"Pinaka-favorite ko po is yung sa SERT, literal na pwede ka magwala don, nakaka-alis ng stress lalo na sa aming mga college students," IT student Paul Nathaniel David said.

The Supreme Student Council (SSC) also set up a Jail Booth, where students could have their friends "arrested" and bailed out. The booth was an instant hit and attracted a large crowd throughout the day.

The College of Education presented a carnival-inspired booth called "Peryahan sa Educ" that featured various games and prizes. Students who participated had a chance to win exciting prizes and had a lot of fun while doing so.

Junior High School students showed their creativity by setting up a Ring Booth, a Food booth, and a Pizza booth. They also created a Valentine-themed Photo Booth where students could take pictures and create lasting memories.

"These booths offer different tasty foods like Pizza and Filipino miryendas that students will surely enjoy, " faculty member Joel Ignacio said.

The BSBA department created the Spin your magical booth, the CCJE department set up a Marksmanship booth, and the CHM department offered Polaroid love and Food Haul. The CCS department set up the Kkopitea booth, while the CLA department had a Dominikano Henyo booth.

Various organizations also had their booths, such as The Veritas' "I-SHOOT MO!" booth, JEEPGY's "Liham mo, I-AABOOTH ko!" booth, and DOMINO's Bright Photobooth and Projector.

The booths were not just fun and games as they also helped raise funds for the school. The SSC will receive 90% of the profits, while the remaining 10% will be given to the school.

Booths are scheduled to close on Thursday to make room for the Junior High School social event and the Senior High School Gala night.

Participants of fun run flocks on the starting point at Sto. Rosario Covered court early on Monday, February, 13 2023.

The Dominican College of Tarlac (DCT) began their annual week-long celebration of its founding on Monday, February 13, 2023, held inside the DCT campus with the theme "Living in Communion. Continuing the mission."

After two years of strict restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, DCT grabbed the opportunity to bring back its annual tradition into its original setting—face-to-face, as the country now allows school activities provided that minimum restrictions are still implemented.

"Excited ako kase first time ko mararanasan ang Foundation ng DCT na hindi na online lang," Janna Mae Caguiat, SHS student said.

The first day kicked off with the mandatory "Takbo Dominikano" color fun run for students taking MAPEH and P.E subjects. Cash prizes of 5,000, 3,000, and 2,000 pesos were awarded to the first, second, and third-place finishers, respectively.

"Nakakapagod pero nakaka-enjoy naman kasi kasama ko mga kaklase ko,” Elaine Pangan, BEED student said.

Thanksgiving mass was held in BP. JJ. Sison Covered Court after the fun run with mass presider Rev. Fr. Ramon Capuno, one of the alumni of DCT, and Chaplain Rev. Fr. Anthony George Bergonio.

"Love God, Love your neighbor," Rev. Fr. Capuno said. "'Yan ang Kristiyano, 'yan ang Katoliko," he added on his homily.

College of Education faculty, Sir Anton Siron said, "The best way to start any celebration is to start with prayer, for the Dominikanos to have a safe and blessed week ahead."

Designing and preparation of different booths also started as each of the departments summons their creative and artistic skills to lure Dominikanos into playing and participating in their Valentine-themed gimmicks with prizes such as food and tokens.

The Supreme Student Council (SSC) will take 90% of the booth's profits and the other 10% will be remitted to the school.

"I'm also one of the members of the committee and I'm excited because we prepared many activities for this year's Foundation Week Celebration," Ms. Mary Joy Raon, a member of the COE faculty said. "Everyone, while enjoying, these activities will be safe and sound.”

The opening day was concluded with the search for the best performers in the "Battle of the bands" event, as 12 bands performed their way to be crowned as the best band in Capas. The invited judges were the members of the X-Quisite Band. After the performance of each group with the DCT crowd, Blend Desire claimed the championship.

“Lahat kami magagaling, siguro ang nagpanalo samin is yung synergy namin sa isa’t isa, and dahil yun sa mga practice na ginawa namin.” Blend Desire’s main vocalist, John Paul Velazques said.
