The Society of Filipino Film Reviewers included Balota in their top three films for the Cinemalaya Film Festival, with an impressive average rating of 3.63 out of 5 stars. Directed by Kip Oebanda

BALOTA premiered at the 20th Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival on August 2, 2024, after the festival on October 6, 2024 BALOTA premiered at the 44th Hawai‘i International Film Festival and released nationwide on October 16, 2024. According to Nessa Valdellon, Balota had earn P135 million with successfil run for 6th week in entire Philippine theaters nationwide. The film stars Marian Rivera as Emmy, a teacher who finds herself in a perilous situation during a volatile local election.

Reviews for the film have been mixed, with some praising Rivera's performance as bold and righteous, while others criticizing the film's approach to political satire as toothless. Despite this, "Balota" has been recognized for its timely commentary on corruption, dirty politics, and election fraud.
