PNP NETS 16,861 VEHICLES IN ANTI-CARNAPPING AND TRAFFIC LAW ENFORCEMENT OPERATIONS

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr lauded the PNP Highway Patrol Group (HPG) for the successful implementation of the laws against carnapping and violations of law governing land transportation over a 4-month period since July 2022.

PNP Chief Azurin announced that PNP-HPG impounded a total of 16, 861 cars and motorcycles including 3, 419 motor vehicles and 13, 442 motorcycles, for violation of RA 4136 also known as Land Transportation and Traffic Code, and other various violations.

Azurin said that among those accosted by HPG personnel were 425 drivers of motor vehicles with unauthorized HPG logo/stickers; 311 drivers with illegal horns; 4,501 for using blinkers/illegal lights; and 743 motorbike drivers with illegally modified mufflers.

According to reports submitted by Police Brigadier General Clifford B Gairanod, HPG Director, Azurin said that Regional Highway Patrol Units (RHPU) issued 350,487 traffic ticket/citations and cited 5,980 traffic violations in relation to Republic Act No. 4136 and local ordinances.

In the campaign against carnapping, PNP-HPG arrested 222 persons while 209 vehicles were recovered.

“Let us step-up and intensify more the enforcement of RA 4136 especially in busy highways in the country, to include areas which have been a regular scene of accidents to ensure road safety and security of general public. Ang aming patuloy na panawagan sa ating mga motorista na maging masunurin sa batas trapiko upang maiwasan ang abala at aksidente sa daan lalo na ngayong darating na kapaskuhan”, Azurin said.

This activity is in relation to the National Children's Month 2022 with the theme “Kalusugan, Kaisipan at Kapakanan ng Bawat Bata Ating Tutukan”.

On November 16, 2022, at about 3:00 PM, PMAJ NOEMI MORALES CAUDILLA, Chief of Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) together with Police Station 1-10 WCPD PNCO, under the leadership of PCOL AARON M MANDIA, City Director attended the Regional Juvenile Justice Welfare Council (RJJWC) Meeting held at DSWD Field Office, Masterson’s Avenue, Upper Carmen, this City.

The meeting was facilitated by RJJWC and tackled the program and services of their organization as well as of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Further, the updates on Children In Conflict with the Law (CICL) cases such as the stabbing incident outside Ayala Centrio Mall were also discussed wherein PMAJ CAUDILLA answered the queries of the participants.

PDEA AND PNP OPERATIONS YIELD 20 KILOS OF SHABU WORTH 136M

Twenty kilos of shabu were discovered in two residential houses during the implementation of Search Warrant at No. 304 Mabolo St, Ayala-Alabang, Village, Brgy Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa, which resulted in the arrest of two foreign nationals and their Filipino cohort, according to the report of PBGEN KIRBY JOHN BRION KRAFT, DD, SPD.

At about 11:45 PM of November 17, 2022, operatives of PDEA led by IA III Jeffrey P Baguidudo, personnel of Bureau of Customs, in coordination with SPD and Muntinlupa City Police Station, implemented Search Warrant No. 22-006 issued by Executive Judge Myra B Quiambao, RTC Muntinlupa dated November 17, 2022, against alias Kano/Tisoy, Oreo/Pretty Boy and other cohorts for violation of RA 9165.

PGEN RODOLFO S AZURIN JR, Chief Philippine National Police said arrested suspects were identified as a certain Oreo/Pretty Boy (subject of search warrant), of legal age, male, Canadian National; Syter Orilin, of legal age, male, French National; and Mark Anthony Sayarot, Filipino.

Confiscated were shabu placed in plastic trays weighing approximately 20 kilograms with Standard Drug Price value of ₱136,000,000.00, several unidentified bottled chemicals believed to be used in making shabu, and other clandestine paraphernalia.

Arrested suspects were brought to PDEA Office for custody and documentation while seized pieces of evidence were turned over to PDEA laboratory for chemical analysis.

“Binabati ko ang PDEA at NCRPO sa tagumpay na ito, tiwala akong ang maayos na koordinasyon sa pagitan ng mga law enforcement agencies ay susi upang magampanan ng bawat isa ang kanilang mga tungkulin at magkaron ng magandang resulta ang mga operasyong gaya nito. Maraming salamat sa ating kapulisan at Sana ay patuloy nating gampanan ang ating tungkuling mapanatili ang kaayusan sa ating mga nasasakupan", PGen Azurin said.

Masorong, Jr., MD, CESE, through the Legal Division, and in partnership with Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) through its Project Manager Noel Ruiz, conducted Community Legal Education Program (CLEP) at Be Palace Hotel, Ozamis City

Important laws such as the following were discussed:
1. "Bill of Rights" by Legal Officer II Atty. Alamiah Pangandaman-Pumbaya,
2. "Katarungang Pambarangay Law" by LD Chief Atty. Shayma A.B. Abdullah, and
3. "Anti Child Marriage Law (R.A. No. 11596) and Harmonizing Child Marriage in Islam" by PBCRD Chief Jamaloddin P. Muti, JD, ShL.

This was attended by 63 participants composed of Muslim community leaders, Salaam Police, vendors, women and youth sector representatives.
