❓ SPF vs. PA: What's the difference?
Have you ever wondered what the sunscreen labels stand for? The most common ones: SPF and PA. What do they mean and what's their difference?
☀️ SPF (Sun Protection Factor) shields our skin from the UVB (Ultraviolet B) rays.
- UVB Filter
- Responsible for melasma, freckles and sunburns
- Higher SPF number, the better
💡 PA (Protection Grade of UVA) protects our skin from the UVA (Ultraviolet A) rays.
- UVA filter
- Responsible for premature aging
- The plus signs (+) indicates the strength of UVA protection
So when looking out for a great sunscreen, get the one with both high SPF value and PA rating, or simply BROAD-SPECTRUM.
