On this All Souls' Day, as we commemorate our loved ones who have left this world, may their souls find eternal peace and rest in the arms of our God. Let's remember the memories they shared with us and keep in our hearts the love and happiness they left.

A time to connect and pray to those loved ones that have already gone before us. Even with their departure, they left us with something meaningful that we're forever grateful for.

November 1st marks All Saints' Day, a sacred time for remembrance, reflection, and prayer. Today, we gather in spirit to honor the saints, celebrating their lives, virtues, and the timeless legacies theyโ€™ve woven into the fabric of our faith.

As we light candles and offer prayers, we are embraced by the loving presence of those who have touched our lives and shaped our faith. Let this day be one of reverence, not only for the saints but also for our loved ones who have passed, whose spirits remain alive in every cherished memory. May their spirits live on in the quiet echoes of our hearts, guiding us with their enduring presence.

Typhoons are a natural phenomena that Filipinos have gotten used to. As citizens, we are still optimistic even in this kind of situation, but is it okay to make jokes from it?

Not everyone is privileged to live in a house that is made of rocks, keeping them safe and protected. Furthermore, no one can lessen the intensity of the typhoon. At least, we must learn to be considerate of the people that are more affected.

You may be saying, โ€œSige! Ulan pa para walang pasok.โ€

While someone is saying, โ€œSana lumipas na โ€˜tong bagyo.โ€

TYPHOONS ARE NOT A JOKE.

Salto Angel
By Marine Angeline Pura

It ended so quickly,
It started so quickly.
The normal life I had was gone,
The bitter life I don't want has come.

For a short time, I thought I had some rest.
For the longest time, I am lying in my bed.
I was put aside, thrown away.
The emotions I had drown in waves.

Like the sun, I tried to rise.
But like the sun,
I set down and filled the room with cries.
Like the moon, I pull the tides.
But like the moon, I am filled with dust and carves.

But like every day, today is a new day.
But like yesterday, it was a learning day.
But like the future, it lies whether I stay.

But I stayed,

And I crawled, and stood, and walked.
Next thing I knew, I ran.
And run, and run, and run.
Then I knew how to pause,

I knew how to breathe.
I liked the warmth of the sun,
I liked the breeze of the moon,
I liked how days and nights passed by me.

The College of Education held a successful Lampara Investiture and Pinning Ceremony for 2nd-year Education students on October 3 at the Auditorium. With the theme โ€œA Road to the Pinnacle of the Teaching Profession: Overcoming Challenges, Strengthening Strategies, and Setting Future Goals,โ€ this meaningful event symbolized the studentโ€™s formal entry into the teaching profession.

The ceremonies consisted of two parts: the Lampara Investiture and Pinning Ceremony. Mr. Aurelius Maximus Cruz, president of the Future Mentors Organization, shared that the Lampara Investiture symbolizes the student teachersโ€™ role as a โ€œtorch and light to the way toward education for all,โ€ and the Pinning Ceremony recognizes and โ€œholds them in the highest respect like all teachers in all educational institutions.โ€

Mr. Jasper Gaboc, Program Chair of the College of Teacher Education, proudly announced a 100% passing rate for the Licensure Examination for Teachers, reflecting the institution's commitment to academic excellence. Mr. Gaboc also acknowledged the vital role parents play in supporting their children and encouraged students to remain determined in their pursuit of success.

Guest Speaker Ms. Dolly Ann D. Delgado, an alumna and Summa Cum laude of her batch, gave an inspirational message as the guest speaker and shared her challenging experience in college. As a working student who worked two jobs to sustain her studies, her success was also attributed to those who supported and believed in her.

The event concluded with a message of gratitude and optimism for the future of these aspiring educators.

On September 26, Olivarez College held the Research Capability Building Seminar with the theme โ€œUnlocking Research Potential: Strategies for Enhancing Research Capabilities in a Dynamic Landscape,โ€ at the Auditorium. This whole-day event gave insights into different approaches to quantitative and qualitative research and was attended by 3rd-year students from various programs.

In the morning, Mr. Michael P. Caducoy, the Director of the Center for Institutional Planning, Quality Assurance, and Accreditation led the first half of the seminar by giving a clear understanding of quantitative research. He emphasized that quantitative research deals with large datasets amd techniques, and discussed its various study types.

In the afternoon, Mr. Kerwin Paul J. Gonzales, a graduate of Philippine Normal University, shared his extensive knowledge on qualitative research and how it differs from quantitative. He also tackled the different parts of qualitative and how to gather data. He shared that "research isnโ€™t one-size-fits-all," which gives further insight that research has different approaches in different programs.

In an interview with a 3rd-year student from the College of Business Administration Major in Marketing Management, the seminar helped her gain more knowledge on qualitative studies, which for her is harder since "mostly sa course namin, quantitative talaga โ€™yung nagiging nature ng researchโ€ She added that this helped her have โ€œinsights [kung] paano namin iaapproach ang ganitong uri ng research.โ€

The seminar ended with 3rd-years gaining invaluable knowledge and understanding of contributing to the advancement of academic knowledge as they conduct their undergraduate research.

Behind the sparkle of gowns and shiny crowns is a world where confidence grows and dreams come alive. As contestants get ready for the spotlight, each young woman brings her own story of strength, ambition, and a desire to change the way we see beauty. In one of these lights shines Ms. Christine Eds Eneroโ€™s earnest smile as she showed Luzon her tireless journey and solemn message, making her worthy of being crowned as Mutya ng Pilipinasโ€”Luzon.

On a promising day on September 6, 2024, one of Edsโ€™ dreams came to fruition as she was crowned as Mutya ng Luzonโ€”Paranaque, which was joyously held in San Juan City. Representing Brgy. San Dionisio, she walked the runway with grace, poise, and wit that made her shine with her meaningful advocacyโ€”to improve, stand up, listen, and speak up about what she believes is right. She stood up not only for Brgy. San Dionisio, but also for everyone who believed in her, and especially to those who truly require assistance with poverty and to give a voice to mental health.

A 21-year-old fourth-year Psychology from Olivarez College - Paraรฑaque, her first experience with pageantry was that of Mr. and Ms. Olivarez College 2019. In light of the fact that Eds is presently interning at Bahay Kalinga in La Huerta, she is a beauty queen, an advocate and a spokesperson for people and social issues that demand adequate and suitable attention. She sees through the challenges, much like how her crown shines brightly, reflecting her own brilliance. The reflection of her crown is a reflection of who she really is.

As part of joining the pageant, she had to go through all of the emotional and physical challenges that come with being a beauty queen. Finding it difficult to manage her time both inside and outside of the industry, Eds gave her full dedication to this dream, recalling the time she had to start practicing as early as four in the morning, starting one month before the screening of Mutya. This journey symbolizes the blood, sweat, and tears Eds had to shed to reach this goal.

Winning the crown felt like standing atop a rugged mountain after a relentless climb through the fog of doubt and fear. With each cheer from Eds support system, especially her mom echoing like a warm breeze, Eds realized that this victory was not just hers, but a shared triumph forged in union and belief. She also thanked her mom for being

The beauty queen shared a heartfelt piece of advice for future beauty queens and to the public: โ€œ๐‘ฑ๐’–๐’”๐’• ๐’… โ€ During her reign, Eds hopes to be a beacon of inspiration, showing others that facing fear is part of the journey. As she also entered the pageant with so much fear, with the mantra that

In a world often defined by surface appearances, Eds Enero shines as a testament to the profound impact of courage, dedication, and authenticity. Her journey from a budding contestant to being crowned Mutya ng Pilipinasโ€”Luzon reflects not just her personal aspirations, but also a commitment to uplift her community and address pressing social issues.

With each challenge she faced, Eds transformed fear into fuel, inspiring others to embrace their own stories of resilience. As she continues her reign, her message resonates deeply: true beauty lies in the strength to stand for what is right and the willingness to forge ahead, even in the face of uncertainty. Eds' legacy will undoubtedly inspire others to embrace uniqueness and pursue their dreams with unwavering determination.

Through her altruistic voyage, Eds Enero demonstrates that the view from the top of the crown transcends beauty, serving as a guiding light of hope and empowerment for those who dare to dream big.

His Ways
By Gheizcha Varela

Staring into these lights,
Reminded me of those sleepless nights
Where everyone's asleep
and it's Your guidance that I seek

How will I know if this is Your will?
If in the midst of all, I can't stand still.
Lead me to Your path
When everything seems to be too much.

Show me Your ways,
And straight away, I will obey.
With these lights as my guide
I will be a good child.

Nagkamali ako.
Wala nang dahilan para magpatuloy
Maling isipin na
Kaya ko pang bumangon -
Dahil

Prelim week was a success!โœจ

How was the experience, Olivarians? Did you SLAY the exam?

Or were you SLAYED by the exam?๐Ÿซฃ

Exam week is crucial in students' lives โ€” inescapable no matter what. It is the time when most students feel pressured and puzzled due to the loads of information they simultaneously consume.

"Score does not define who I am,โ€ indeed! Average grades are fine, and giving your full effort to excel academically is not a waste of time.

Pat yourself on the back, you all passed the 1st level. Let us look forward to the midterms and learn together once again!
