Yesterday, during our drive to Baguio, we just thought of recording our regular conversations to invite a wider audience through a podcast.

No scripts. No formalities. No pretentiousness.

Just raw, human workings of the grace of God in real stories and lessons on Christian Living, Personal Leadership, Calling, Wholeness, Manhood, and Kingdom-driven Work.

As sojourners, we live lives wrestling between faithfulness to our present assignments and detachment from these assignments as they are moved by God's purposes in different seasons.

The tension never gets easy as these assignments usually speak of the labor you have passionately worked on, the people you have lovingly walked with and the milestones you have diligently achieved and have even once gratifyingly celebrated.

How do we still live life then in this tension?

“Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” (Luke 22:42, NLT)

Jesus vulnerably pleaded and confidently surrendered. A beautiful demonstration of how we can go through life in middle seasons.

Retreat to your intimacy with God. It takes a closeness with the Lord built over years of prayer, devotion and walking in Sonship to get to this point of vulnerability and bargaining.

"Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me."

Then, welcome God's purpose in surrender. Knowing that every time He gives and takes away, new life breaks open and the latter will always be greater, you can trust His ways.

"Yet I want your will to be done, not mine."

And as you go through the endless cycle of this sojourning life where nothing is permanent, you'll eventually learn to hold on to everything neither too tightly nor too loosely so you are ready to keep and let go at the sound of the Lord's leading, and doing so while keeping peace for yourself and love to those around you.

KANINO 'YANG PERA MO?

"Tithing, giving 10% of your blessings or income to the Lord's storehouse. Everytime money is with me, that's already subtracted with everything. It's something that we've done eh, ever since." Donny Pangilinan claims.

"Why do you believe in tithing?" Ms. Karen Davila follows up.

"Maybe you have to go to that mindset na nothing is ours anyways, it's all lend to us and at the end of the day when we die, the day will come na none of this will matter diba? You know, what's 10% to give back to God?" - Donny

"Naiyak naman ako do'n as a Christian." - Karen

"Well, tita, i'm not perfect but I try my best to stay in line with God." - Donny

"Ano ang itinuro ni Anthony and Maricel that you still carry today?" - K

"The number one thing is always give back glory to God, hindi pwedeng mawala 'yon. number two, keep your feet on the ground of course. don't forget how and why you started, and understand where you are because you have a purpose." - D

Tithing is a timeless grace from God that helps protect us from the dangers of wealth and empowers us to resist the idols of fame and fortune. It is the only assurance for biblical prosperity that the Lord allows us to challenge Him with.

There are different views on what the "tithe" is. Some Christians believe that we are still held to the standard of tithing the 10% of all we receive; others believe that we are released from this law, but that we are still called to radical generosity.

Regardless, every follower of Jesus is called to believe that everything they have comes from God, and that it’s only reasonable that they “tithe” or set aside a good portion and release it from their management in thanksgiving to their Provider God. Ultimately, the tithe is a representation of the first part of your possession and is only the beginning of what generosity could look like for the Church.

What I would like to emphasize more here tho is the effect of a Christian couple's conviction on the discipleship of their child. Kudos to Ms. Maricel and Mr. Anthony Pangilinan, who are not just notable business personalities but also parents whose faith is remarkable, imparting to Donny the best inheritance they can give—an unswerving loyalty to God—teaching him to trust the Lord more than anything else they can ever provide.

So may we, as individuals, tithe.
May our families tithe.
May we teach our children to tithe.
May our businesses tithe, if it's one more thing to guard us from wandering away from the only secure subject of our trust and dependence.

Proverbs 3:9-10 - Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.

2 Chronicles 31:4-5 - He ordered the people living in Jerusalem to give the portion due the priests and Levites so they could devote themselves to the Law of the LORD. As soon as the order went out, the Israelites generously gave the firstfruits of their grain, new wine, olive oil and honey and all that the fields produced. They brought a great amount, a tithe of everything.

Mark 12:41-44 - Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live.

The thing about grieving is that there is no 'getting over' or 'moving forward' from the loss. You just learn to live and grow around it. And as the canvas of life unfolds and becomes bigger, the void remains, though smaller and less significant it becomes.

I was following my new Bible-in-a-year plan when I noticed that the first three questions God asked Adam and Eve after their fall are as follows:

Where are you?
Who told you?
What have you done?

I realize that every time we sin or feel lost, God similarly examines our hearts with these three questions.

Where are you? How far from God do you feel you currently are? How confident are you that the walls you've built or the distance you’ve set can hide you for long?

Who told you? Whose voice have you been listening to lately? How sure are you that these voices echo the same intentions of love, protection, and providence that you can be sure of if they're from the Word of God?

What have you done? Really, pause and reflect. Do you truly understand the full weight of your actions? Were you satisfied with what you received in return? Was it in any way close to what you were promised? Was it worth the feelings of guilt and shame?

Genuine repentance and re-surrender involve locating ourselves in our estrangement & identifying the voices we often listen to instead of God.

Each time we fall or feel lost, we’re invited to honestly confess our misdeeds in the presence of the One who can heal, forgive, and redeem.

Let the Lord do His work.

To clothe you once again with dignity and favor.
So there's no more hiding.

To remind you once again of His promises and intentions.
So there's no need to heed another offer.

To restore you and empower you to walk in the right direction.
So there's no staying in guilt and condemnation.

Before the water turned into wine, someone tiresomely filled the water pots.

Most of the times, we want the new wine to just appear, but Jesus calls us to fill the jars first.

God often wants us to participate in our own miracle by staying through the mudane.

In this great resignation, may we not regret quitting halfway through the promise of God.
