💚 Alright, so let's put an end to this hot topic about Low Rates sa Upwork. Here's Will from Upwork Events:

"Great question here, or observation. There's an increasing number of clients that offer ridiculously low and unjust rates. Uh, what do you suggest freelancers do? This is an interesting topic, and it may feel new to you, but this is, excuse me, it's been a topic since. Beginning of, of freelancing, to my understanding, uh, the re one of the main reasons for this is, uh, again, this comes back to knowing the client experience on the platform.

When a client is posting a job on Upwork, they have to put in a dollar amount for their budget. And as we've, we've mentioned multiple times in this, in this project, oftentimes the client doesn't really know what that should look like. They're, they're not the expert in this space, hence why they're out here looking for one.

So they might just put in a number. Just cuz I need to get to the next screen and hit, and hit go. So I don't let a client's budget the, the, the funds that they put in on the, on the, uh, posting. I don't let that determine what I'm gonna write. Sometimes it's close and sometimes it's good. But, uh, let's say that the client say up, I.

I'm looking for a logo designed, or I'm looking for a decorat creation and it's got a hundred bucks for my budget. That's if you want a, if you want a good deck, you're not paying a hundred dollars for it, so I know that that's too low, but instead of just passing by that job posting, I'll reach out to the client and do my, do my proposal, but I will make sure and address the disparity between me charging 500 for this project and them having a $100 budget.

And I'll address it. I'll say, you know, the. I've worked in this space a long time. You can, of course, hire any, any sort of degree of talent, but I've taken a look at your website or I'll see your assets or I, I know, I know this space, whatever the case may be, and for the quality that you're looking for and for the, the seamless process, it's worth the investment.

Here's why. Here's what I'm gonna do. Here's what the process is gonna look like. Take their hand and walk 'em down a path. I, I recommend to people a lot to try and get into that trusted advisor role. This is a good way of doing it. Keep in mind that the clients. Are not always as well versed on the environment, the system, how Upwork actually works, all these different things.

Um, and while. Is taking steps to help educate clients and make that a little bit more understood in the process. Um, the owner still does sort of fall on us as a professional to, to help pick up some of that slack, but I find rather than making that a burden and saying, oh, why do I have to teach the client how to, you know, what's right and what, what works?

I think it's an opportunity. I think it's an opportunity to build trust and for them to say, oh, you know, I came on here not really knowing what I was doing, and will took the time to explain it and, and make me understand how's it going to work? Uh, how does the fund release work? When does this happen?

Why do I, why should I be paying excess than a y? This is a great opportunity to develop a lasting relationship with a client. So all that to say, don't pass up, just cuz you see the, the budget is low. It may be an arbitrary number they threw out there."

🏁 Breaking News:

Goodbye, Sliding Fees! Upwork implements 10% Standard Fee on all contracts on May 3 onwards.

So, this is it, Upwork is now making a bold move. The Service Fee of 20%, 10% and 5% will no longer apply! Although, existing long-term Client-Freelancer partnerships that currently enjoy 5% fee will remain until the end of 2023.

💚 Hey Everyone,
One of the Frequently Asked Questions ng mga Newbies ay: Ano bang niche na bagay sakin? So, let's address that once and for all.

The direct answer to this question: are those skills/services that you already are knowledgeable about and can be delivered via the internet.

But how will I figure that out? Through Self-Assessment.
I know this is different from the answer that most of you would want to hear - kasi ang gusto nyo that we will tell you ano ang in-demand ngayon or saan mas malaki ang kitaan, but hear me out first.

Online Freelancing as a Virtual Assistant is a broad spectrum, so instead of taking the entire thing head on, try to find your matching shade first and use it as your entry point.

Dahil kung ang habol mo lang ay malaking kitaan agad, then it is much more likely that you will burn out; either way, there will be a learning curve, and you will face challenges such as negotiating properly, dealing with difficult clients, rejections, and many more that come with this journey. Kaya we recommend na dun na tayo magsimula kung saan ka na magaling or at least, confident that you can provide good service.

With the experience you carry plus your employment records to back you up, there should be something in there that you are knowledgeable about and can be performed virtually using PC. Since you've been on it for the time being, probably from work or as a hobby, therefore, you should be able to deliver quality results. It doesn't even have to be a title or position; it can be a specific task that you do well.

Kahit sabihin mo pang-newly graduate ka - there must be something in there that you were have been doing as a hobby or even something that you do in school, like as simple as a research paper, for example (But then again, this is just an example - don't use this, find what's within you!)

To help you further with this assessment, I'll attach a photo about how to find your "Ikigai". It's a Japanese concept that means your 'reason for being.' Feel free to check it out and go photo by photo and create your personal diagram. No one else knows you better than you, so ikaw lang makakagawa nyan.

Summary:
What you love - What you love to do?
What the world needs - What jobs work with your life?
What you can be paid for - What can you get paid to do well?
What you are good at - What are your natural talents?
