Have you ever felt ashamed for experiencing something for the first time?
One time, one of my students wanted to celebrate a win pero nahihiya raw siya.
The win? Being able to ride a plane for the first time, Manila to Cebu.
It made me think...
I was so privileged growing up. My parents took me outside of the country for trips every year so riding a plane was part of my normal.
My heart went out for her. This is something she should be celebrating. A big win! Yet iniisip niya na it might be too small in comparison to other people's experiences.
I remembered this thought yesterday.
Marc and I flew to Hokkaido and experienced snow for the first time. We were so happy, para kaming mga bata. We played around and took lots of pictures!
Some people might think, "Wow!
AND SO?
This is about MY experience. And I'm going to enjoy it fully, celebrate all the steps I took to get here, and share my pictures and happiness to the internet just because I want to.
Alright, 2 things:
1. I hope you never feel ashamed for your joy.
2. I hope you allow others to celebrate their happiness, too.
