Reviving after two years of BE torpor:
Sulat District pilots Eastern Samar Brigada Eskwela 2022
After two years of Brigada hiatus, Sulat District hosted today the Division Brigada Eskwela 2022 campaign to prepare schools in Eastern Samar division for the opening of straightout face-to-face classes on August 22.
The theme "Brigada Eskwela: Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-Aral" promotes collaboration and resiliency in basic education and mobilizes teachers, students, parents, alumni, governmental assemblies, non-government organizations, volunteers and other stakeholders to participate in revamping the school facilities, services and buildings in time for the opening of classes.
The campaign started off with a motorcade around the municipality of Sulat, delegating government agencies, civic groups, DepEd personnel, volunteers and representatives from the 27 participating delegates around the province as prime movers to this undertaking which purports to deepen the ties with the existing partners and in generating new ideas, programs, projects, learning activities and avenues for collaboration.
In his welcome remarks, Schools Division Superintendent Bernardo A. Adina redefined the spirit of BE volunteerism as a collaborative effort in uplifting a quality education for every Filipino.
โIt takes a village to educate a child. So, everyone in the community must contribute to the development of a child. Education is a responsibility of all the people,โ he stressed.
Adina also reintroduced the shift from the blended learning setup to a full-blown face-to-face classroom setting, where every activity is assessed firsthand and not through online learning platforms or distance learning modalities.
โWe have decided to have the full face-to-face instruction. That means, all our learners will come to school. And we are advocating still that all employees including the students should be vaccinated,โ he said, encouraging everyone to be vaccinated and maintain the health protocols previously imposed.
On the other hand, the Department of Education, as cited by Abner C. Aclao, SEPS-SocMob, also launched Brigada Eskwela Plus which aims to boost enrollment, reduce dropout rates, and encourage participation in DepEd programs to improve the quality of education in all academic levels.
Furthermore, Aclao emphasized that the implementation of Brigada Pagbasa, which is an after-school reading remediation program in response to Bawat Bata Bumabasa (3Bs Initiative), must be implemented to guarantee that every child receives the best instruction at school.
DepEd officials of the Eastern Samar division assured to conduct BE activities considering all safety precautions and protocols amid the COVID19 crises and other infectious health threats.
