Nahauna nga adlaw lang Abril
Nabun-ag ang sang ka anghel
Anghel nga ginbugay kang Ginuo
Nga kanatun tanan gapa-ambit kang ana talento.

Mabuot kag mapisan

Diving into the heart of media responsibility, Communication students from the University of Antique immersed themselves in the discourse on media responsibility at the Marshall McLuhan Series on Responsible Media 2024, hosted by West Visayas State University (WVSU), held at the WVSU Cultural Center, on Friday, March 8.

The highlight of the gathering was a compelling lecture delivered by Ms. Karmina Constantino, the distinguished 2022 Marshall McLuhan fellow. Students explored the intricacies of journalistic integrity in a post-truth era. Ms. Constantino's lecture, "Revising the Basics: The Role of the Journalist in Critical Public Discourse and in Seeking Accountability in the Philippines," ignited thought-provoking discussions on the evolving landscape of media ethics.

Following the lecture , reactors comprising Atty. May Castillo, Mr. Jeremy Brian Valle, and Ms. Bea Grace Subega provided nuanced perspectives on the challenges and responsibilities inherent in modern journalism. During the interactive session, Ms. Constantino's impassioned call to confront fear and uphold journalistic principles resonated deeply with attendees, inspiring a renewed commitment to truth-telling and accountability.

When Karmina Constantino questioned about her advice to journalists who may feel apprehensive in today's volatile media landscape, Constantino's response resonated deeply with the audience. "Why are you afraid?" she challenged."I'm not afraid because I'm fighting for my country and for my family, because I'm fighting for the future of my children," she declared .

Constantino's words struck a chord with attendees, emphasizing the importance of journalism as a noble pursuit, driven by a sense of duty to society and future generations. Her impassioned plea encouraged journalists to draw strength from their commitment to serving the greater good, despite the challenges they may encounter.

Moreover, the forum provided a platform for participants like Jaymel Jinon Eiman to share their reflections and insights. Jaymel expressed gratitude for the opportunity to attend the Marshall McLuhan Forum Series, highlighting the profound impact it had on his understanding of responsible media practices.

"Attending the Marshall McLuhan Forum Series on Responsible Media has instilled in me the importance of fact-checking in today's generation, as disinformation is rampant. It was a privilege to meet Ms. Karmina Constantino, as she emphasized our role today and in the near future in spreading truth."

The presence of Communication students from the University of Antique underscored the collaborative spirit of the event, emphasizing the collective pursuit of media literacy and ethical engagement across academic spheres. |

In the spirited realm of intellectual prowess, the University of Antique recently witnessed a clash of minds during the 2023 Innovation Week's Intellectual Property (IP) Quiz Contest at the Research Resource Development Center on Monday, November 13.

A battle among the brightest minds inside the University of Antique took place through a competition where Blessa Mae Bautista, AB PolSci 3B, marked a journey of success as she dominated the rest of the competitors under the Student Category.

Through Blessa’s lens of victory, her perseverance prevailed. The determination that Blessa Mae Bautista possesses navigated her way to take the spotlight on a stage where a battle of intelligence was held.

Prior to her success, she challenged herself to taste the bitterness of struggles. In her winning battle, the lack of time held her back from unleashing her best. "I guess the limited time to actually prepare because I only had 2 days to review, and I didn't have any materials, so I had to do research about Intellectual property rights and management all on my own. It is indeed a challenge for me, so I wouldn't say it was all luck, but it was a mix of perseverance and dedication." Blessa expressed gratitude to Sir Ysulat and Coach Ms. Hueler for their belief and support, dedicating her success to the CASimanwas community.

Despite the circumstances, her spotlight shines brighter, for her burning desire for victory did not place limits on her passion. Blessa remained undefeatable, and the desire for excellence pioneered her way to the top.

A well-deserved celebration, indeed. Not solely for gaining the title as a winner, but for the bravery of dosing 'bitterness,' and by mixing up perseverance and dedication, Blessa is finally savoring her 'sweet' success!

On the other hand, Mrs. Lorilee Serato secured the second place under the Faculty Category. |

The competition commenced right after the opening of the HUGYAW 2023 Celebration themed “BAMBUHAY: Bago, Angat at Makabuluhang Buhay”, which kicked off with a Foot Parade earlier this morning, participated by different colleges and extension campuses of the UA System.

Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., the University President, shared a significant message during the opening. He emphasized that the celebration at the University of Antique was a tribute to the conversion of then Polytechnic State College of Antique into The University of Antique, a historic moment in the institution's history, "The act converting the then Polytechnic State College of Antique into The University of Antique made us the third state university of Western Visayas."

The hUgyaw Dance Competition was held despite unfavorable weather conditions, showcasing the resilience and dedication of the contenders. Notably, CAS and CMS secured 3rd place in the 2023 hUgyAw Dance, after claiming 2nd place in 2022.

Mr. El Jan Jason Doronila, one of the CAS-CMS HUGYAW dance coaches, attributed their success to the unwavering dedication of both colleges and their dancers. "Despite challenging schedules, we are grateful that the students remained dedicated to returning to school for practice. And despite the three coaches being new part-timers, they showed full support and showed their potential. We are grateful- very grateful for the support of the faculty from both colleges and the coordinators," Mr. Doronila shared in an interview.

In addition to their remarkable dance performance, CAS-CMS also earned special recognition with a series of awards that includes titles such as "Most Jolly," "Most Active," "Most Organized," "Best Smile," and "Most Festive," highlighting the vibrant and joyous atmosphere.

On the other hand, the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) secured the 2nd place in the HUGYAW Dance Competition. At the same time, the College of Teacher Education (CTE) and Laboratory High School (LHS) tandem took home the coveted 1st place. | #𝑡ℎ𝑒𝐶𝐴𝑇𝐴𝐿𝑌𝑆𝑇

𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐬’ 𝐃𝐚𝐲| In this world filled with the hustle and bustle of daily life, this day provides solace and a time to remember those who have imparted an indelible impact on our hearts.

All Souls' Day, observed every 2nd of November, carries great value for many people around the world. It's a time when people come together to remember and honor their dead loved ones.

On this solemn occasion, we gather in memory of our loved ones, family, and friends to honor their souls who have departed, as well as to remember and embrace their legacies. We take this opportunity to remember the times we spent together, the laughs we had, and the love and real happiness we received from them. They, though no longer physically here, continue shining brilliantly in our hearts.

Let us embrace the beauty of their souls as we light candles and pray, honoring their living legacies and the great impact they had on our lives. May their souls rest in peace.
