LITERARY #3

"Hindi naman talaga nakakapagod mag-aral, ang nakakapagod lang ay ang mahabang biyahe at ang mga aberya sa daan."

Alas kwatro nang umaga, gising ka na. Pagkagising mo, agad kang nagsaing, tapos nagmamadali kang maligo at mag-ayos ng iyong sarili para maabutan ang bus na maagang dumadaan sa inyong lugar. Paunahan pa sa pagsakay dahil marami rin na mga estudyante na kagaya mo ang nag-aabang. Masuwerte ka kung makakasakay ka agad, pero kapag hindi? Aba, malas mo.

"Manong, para po."
"Manong, lampas na po ako!"

Isipin mo, hindi ka pa nga nakakarating sa paaralan pero pagod ka na, at hindi na maipinta ang iyong mukha dahil lumampas ka sa dapat mong babaan. Idagdag mo pa ang ulan, ang traffic, at ang mga aksidente minsan na nagpapatigil at nagpapadagdag sa stress mo. Yun bang hinahabol mo na nga ang oras dahil may quiz kayo, tapos panay pa ang chat ng kaibigan mo sa'yo:

"Hoy bakla, asan ka na? Magsisimula na ang quiz."
"Number one na kami, mag-number two na."
"Bakla, ano na? Asan ka na? Mag-a-attendance na."

Grabe talaga 'yan. Mapapabuntong-hininga ka na lang, tapos medyo mapapaiyak ka pa.

"Kung inaantok kayo at kung matutulog lang naman kayo sa klase ko, mas mabuting lumabas na lang kayo."
"Puro kasi kayo cellphone tuwing gabi. Matutulog na, magce-cellphone pa, hindi iniisip na may pasok pa bukas."

Minsan, may mga g**o na hindi makaintindi sa sitwasyon mo. Yung akala nila, alam na alam nila na nagce-cellphone ka tuwing gabi, pero ang totoo, kumakayod at nagtatrabaho ka upang matustusan ang sarili mo at makapasok sa kanilang mga klase. Mahirap talaga maging estudyante, lalo na kapag sinusuportahan mo pa ang sarili mo sa mga panggastos. Minsan gusto mo na lang sumuko. Minsan mapapaisip ka rin kung bakit nandiyan ka sa kalagayan na 'yan.

Oo, mahirap at nakakapagod talaga ang mahabang biyahe at ang mga nakaka-stress na aberya sa daan. Pero kahit mahirap, sana isipin at ma-realize mo na sa bawat aberya sa daan ay may mga realizations na nagbubukas ng iyong mga mata. Na sa bawat mahabang biyahe, may mga natututunan ka at mayroon kang patutunguhan. Nakakapagod maging estudyante, pero mas nakakapagod kung minsan ay hindi ka naging estudyante. Kaya laban lang! Sa kabila ng mga aberya sa daan, usad lang patungo sa iyong magandang kinabukasan.

we're created

You were made for a reason, and that in itself is awesome. We are all reminded daily that we are not good enough, but we have to realize that we are good enough just the way we are. Every strength, weakness, and experience contributes to the unique beauty that is you today. It hasn't been an easy trip, but those are the times you've grown the most, those are the times you've learned the most. You may not always notice it, but others around you are really proud of you and all you have done so far.

It's all too easy to fall into the trap of thinking you're "not good enough." However, you are enough, just as you are. Your existence shines like a star in the world, and this is something to celebrate. Not just because you exist, but because you've made a difference in other people's lives. Although doubts can sneak up on you, remember that your presence is important and it matters a lot. Just keep on keeping on, as they say, and when things seem to be at their worst, just remember that people are there for you, every step of the way. I am proud, you were created with love, intention, and potential. Embrace that and let it inspire you to continue becoming the best version of yourself.

Isang Liham para kay Nene

Nene, naaalala mo pa ba noong sinabi ko na baka hindi ko kayanin ang mga responsibilidad na iiwan mo sa akin? Naaalala mo pa ba noong panahong sinabi ko na baka hindi ko kayanin ang mga pagsubok na darating kapag wala ka na? Nene, alam kong naaalala mo. Pinapanalangin ko na sana ang liham na ito ay makarating sa iyo.

Tila ba parang kahapon lang noong nakuha mo ang puso ko. Nakuha mo ako sa iyong kabaitan, sa iyong ngiting walang kupas, sa iyong pag-iintindi na walang palya. Palagi kong naaalala ang iyong mga habilin, ngunit isa lamang ang tumatak sa aking kaluluwa’t puso noong binanggit mo ang mga salitang:

"Kahit anong mangyari, huwag na huwag mong hahayaang mawala na parang bula ang ating pinaghirapan."

"Nene, hindi ko ata kaya nang wala ka."

Halos tumulo ang luha ko sa lungkot noong nalaman ko na aalis ka na. Iiwan mo na ang isa sa mga bagay na minahal mo, at alam ko na hanggang ngayon ay mahal mo pa rin. Nene, paano ko ba sasabihin sa iyo na tila ako’y nahihirapan nang itaguyod ito? Nahihirapan na akong magpanggap na kaya ko lahat ng pagsubok. Hindi naman kasi ako malakas. Hindi ako matapang—nagtatapang-tapangan lang. Tila bang mali na ipaglaban ang isang bagay na para sa akin ay tama, na para sa akin ay dapat.

Pero hindi ko pala kaya iwan. Hindi ko kayang pabayaan. Kasalanan mo ata ito—napamahal na ako sa bagay na mahal mo. Napamahal na ako sa ginagawa ko; hindi ko na kayang tumalikod na parang wala lang. Pinipilit ko, hangga’t alam kong kaya kong ipaglaban, kahit minsan mukhang walang patutunguhan. Lagi ko na lang iniisip na kung gusto ko, may paraan, dahil hindi naman masama ang aking hangarin.

Nene, may mga pagkakataon na parang gusto ko nang sumuko. Parang gusto ko nang bumitaw, lalo na kapag nararamdaman ko ang bigat ng mundo sa aking mga balikat. Pero sa tuwing naiisip kita—ang mga ngiti mo, ang mga aral na iniwan mo, ang pananampalataya mong hindi natitinag—napapaisip ako: paano kita bibiguin?

Alam ko, Nene, na hindi mo kailanman hiniling na maging perpekto ako. Alam kong ang tanging hiling mo lamang ay ang ipagpatuloy ko ang nasimulan natin at hindi ko hahayaang maglaho ang ating mga pangarap. Kaya kahit mahirap, kahit masakit, kahit tila walang kasiguraduhan, pipilitin kong magpatuloy. Hindi dahil sa gusto ko lang, kundi dahil alam kong ito ang tamang gawin—dahil alam kong ito ang iyong iniwang misyon para sa akin.

Salamat, Nene, sa lahat ng iniwan mo sa akin—hindi lang responsibilidad kundi inspirasyon. Salamat sa pagmamahal na hindi ko maipaliwanag, sa tapang na kahit papaano’y natutunan kong akuin, at sa pangarap na kahit kailan ay hindi ko kayang talikuran.
