Therese and I wrote this song during the pandemic. She was always egging me to send this to Morissette's team. I sent a couple of other people's demos, but not ours. I never thought it'd be something her record label would be interested to release, given the current trends of OPM. I felt our song was too strange, born during a dark time in everyone's lives that we'd rather forget.

But of course, Therese found her own way to send the demo. Horror of all horrors, she sent MY vocal demo! She wrote the lyrics with Morissette in mind, so I guess she felt it was worth the risk to let her hear it, at the very least. So I couldn't believe it when I followed up on my submissions, they informed me that they went for "the track [I] sang on."

So thank you to Morissette, Dave Lamar, Martti Joeyson, and the rest of the team for believing in our strange little song. It's about confronting sadness and embracing it with open arms. I hope it reaches the people who need it most. Some songs transport us away from the dreariness of everyday life. Others, like this one, help us face it head-on. 💕
