Key takeaways from the recent interview with Jihoz a few minutes ago for anyone interested.
On servers:
1. Engineers working 7 days a week to get the servers back to normal. Goal is to create a game that not only has earning potential but is also fun. And the game can't be fun if it can't even be played. Fixing the servers is top priority.
2. Fixing the servers is not complex, it just takes time. Around a million battles going on per day which is at the limits of the current database. Will be rolling out incremental upgrades over the next couple of weeks but difficult to give firm timelines.
On future and sustainability of the game
3. TAM could be as much as 2-3 billion players (underemployed, pet collectors, etc) so currently very far from saturation.
4. Have to create demand sinks eventually. Not necessarily burning Axie, but releasing them or sending them away to gain materials that could upgrade your Axie. Not a feature to release in Alpha. Would be unfair for future players to release this early.
5. Axie demand is currently not an issue. Around 4 Axie per user right now on average. Burning Axie this early would just slow our growth.
6. We could create more demand for Axie outside of getting more players into the game but aside from that it's important to grow the number of capital invested by people not necessarily looking to make a return.
7. Axie as a distribution and marketing channel. One of the strongest communities in crypto so there is immense value in being able to interact with this community. SkyMavis will not take the money as marketing costs, will go straight into the economy.
8. Another way to think of it is that Axies can currently only be used for breeding and battle. In the future, there will be hundreds of different games and use cases which in theory should further stimulate demand for Axie. Think of the Axie ecosystem as a theme park and owning Axie as your ticket.
