Our country is undergoing a significant transformation in transportation with the gradual phaseout of our traditional jeepneys. These iconic, brightly colored vehicles have been considered the staple public transportation in our country for decades, but concerns about environmental impact, safety standards, and modernization have led the government the initiative to replace jeepneys 15 years and older with new ones that conform with the Philippine National Standards and are powered by an electric powertrain or a Euro 4-compliant diesel engine.
The decision has generated discussions about affordability, the lives of jeepney operators, and the cultural significance of these unusual vehicles in Philippine society, even though it is thought of as a step toward a more sustainable future.
As the youngest voice of the LOUISIAN community, we stand against the Jeepney Phaseout, recognizing the importance of preserving this cultural and heritage symbol, and waving concern that it will cause change and downfall to the ordinary people, especially those who served as the steering wheel of the so-called "King of the Road".
#NoToJeepneyPhaseout
We will open the comment section to those who are willing to share their βKwentong Jeepneyβ to reminisce their experiences while riding the βKing of the Roadβ
