Community Collaboration: Rotary Club and CICOSAT Colleges Join Forces for Coastal Clean-Up Drive

On a crisp morning of February 29, 2024, the Rotary Club of Metro San Fernando City La Union and CICOSAT Colleges united their efforts for a noble cause – a coastal cleanup drive at Lingsat, San Fernando City. Led by the capable leadership of Ma'am Jacqueline Abella-Daciego, the President of Rotary Club and CICOSAT Colleges, with the support of Mr. Gilbert Sali-ot, the OIC Dean of CICOSAT College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE), and Dr. Gaudencio N. Andaya Jr., the Students Affairs Officer, the two organizations came together with a shared commitment to environmental stewardship.

Before setting out to tackle the litter that marred the coastline, Dr. Gaudencio Andaya Jr., took the time to impart valuable insights. With earnestness and care, he discussed the dos and don'ts of the cleanup drive, emphasizing the importance of proper waste segregation. His guidance ensured that the endeavor would not only beautify the shoreline but also contribute to a sustainable future.

Armed with cleaning materials and determination, students and volunteers from both the Rotary Club and CICOSAT Colleges descended upon the beach, ready to make a difference. With each piece of debris collected and disposed of responsibly, they demonstrated their dedication to preserving the natural beauty of their community.

In a gesture of appreciation for the students' hard work and dedication, the Rotary Club generously provided water tumblers to all who participated in the cleanup drive. This small token served as a reminder of the impact that can be achieved through collective action and shared responsibility.

As the day drew to a close, the coastline of Lingsat bore witness to a transformation – from a litter-strewn shore to a pristine haven. But the true beauty of the day lay not only in the physical cleanup but in the spirit of cooperation and camaraderie that brought together two organizations and countless individuals in service of a common goal.

With the success of this coastal cleanup serving as a testament to the power of collaboration, the Rotary Club of Metro San Fernando City La Union and CICOSAT Colleges look forward to future endeavors that will continue to make a positive impact on their community and beyond.

The program commenced with a moment of reverence, guided by Ma'am Primitiva Quevedo, the esteemed Dean of CTEAS, who led the invocation. Following Dr. Abella-Daciego's stirring address, Ma'am Primitiva Quevedo introduced the panel of judges, who would play a critical role in evaluating the scholarly endeavors presented. With the criteria for judging outlined, the stage was set for the main event: the presentation of research studies that spanned a spectrum of disciplines and inquiries.

As researchers took the spotlight, each presentation became a testament to the dedication and intellectual curiosity driving academic inquiry at CICOSAT. From innovative methodologies to groundbreaking findings, each study showcased the transformative power of rigorous scholarship.

Once the presentations concluded, it was time to acknowledge the contributions of the judges, who were duly honored with certificates of appreciation. However, the spotlight soon shifted to the winning presenters, whose exemplary work garnered accolades and recognition.

As the curtains drew to a close on the event, Ma'am Cristal Sistona, the esteemed research coordinator of BS Pharma, led a closing prayer, invoking blessings for continued scholarly pursuits and intellectual growth.
