On this day 9 years ago, Super Typhoon Yolanda ravaged the Philippines, including the Sagay City and its island communities.

In Suyac, people believed that two winds merged that made the strong typhoon. But they were saved by the century-old mangrove trees thriving on their island.

"Ang Saot Sang Lima Amihan" tells this tale, basing on the real narratives of the women in the island.

Shooting soon.

Hello guys! It's the time of the year again. This time, we are going full-length!

This film also tackles issues on climate change, trans-rights, and women living in marginalized communities— told through the lens of five women who survived Typhoon Yolanda. Message us if you want more details about this project.

We are asking for support for our film. We don't have mainstream producers. We want to keep our voice regional, telling stories of Negros beyond its sugarcane. Madamo gid nga salamat!

Protesting an abnormal new normal manufactured by incompetence and neglect, Garcia constructs an anarchy of images where bodies take center stage. There's still a stand of politics ingrained in both texts. But dare to say, more importantly, they are precious instances of experimentation that are bold without sacrificing technical integrity. — JPM

JUST IN. "Mga Bag-ong Nawong (sang Damgo kag Katingalahan)" won three awards in the Sundayag Film Festival under the Art/Experimental Category! Thank you so much to the panel of jury and the festival organizers for recognizing our film. Padayon!

From Sundayag post:

Second Sundayag Film Festival received an incredible amount of short film submissions for the 3 different categories (Narrative, Documentary, Art/Experimental Film) which made the job a little more difficult to select the best among the bests. Out of 77 films, only 28 have been selected for the main competition and the rest were screened for exhibition. Each film has been discussed by the juries and scored accordingly.

As the festival's second year celebration is coming to an end, we are pleased to announce the winners of the Second Sundayag Film Festival!

Two special awards will be posted very soon.

Congratulations, filmmakers!

We made this months ago to tell a short, silent story about how our teachers have struggled in reaching and teaching kids the things they need to learn while we are in the pandemic. No fancy music score, just a teacher telling us a slice of her life in the "new normal".

Shot this at one of the hacienda schools in Sagay City (while following safety protocols).

"Wala Sirom-Sirom sa Amon Classroom"
(There are No Crickets in Our Classroom)

A mini-documentary about a kindergarten teacher who still conducts classes by shooting interactive videos for her students residing in a far-flung hacienda surrounded by sugarcane fields.

Dedicated to all of the teachers out there who continues to value the value of educating their students, and to my teachers who helped me where I am today. Happy World Teacher's Day!

Our ACTION! Featured Filmmaker for this month is Direk Mark Raymund L. Garcia.

“I started making films in 2014 when we were in our film production class. I thought it would just end there. But my love for cinema developed and was triggered by my urge to tell stories. My background in journalism really taught me the value of listening to the stories of the people. Basically, my inspiration would come from them, especially those stories that even they could not comprehend because of its mysticism. Most of the films I make are mostly focused on how magic — supernatural powers, spirits, nature — affects the reality of my community. I always love to explore mysteries, poetry, and metaphor in situations and how it parallels the issues we face currently.”
