NEWS UPDATE: The House of Representatives is pushing for the approval of a bill that would grant a P200 daily minimum wage increase for workers.

Speaker Martin Romualdez said ongoing public consultations indicate a consensus in the House to support the wage hike bill.

Romualdez emphasized that it is a crucial step towards inclusive growth and addressing the financial struggles of Filipino families.

The House Speaker added that there have been measures that raised the minimum wage and a similar move is possible with proper planning and collaboration.

Romualdez assured that lawmakers are working to craft a balanced wage hike proposal that considers both workers' welfare and the capacity of businesses, particularly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), to adjust.

Meanwhile, the Senate already approved a P100 legislated wage increase for private sector workers in March 2024.
