A HISTORIC FIRST FOR SLS! After becoming our first film to ever have a theatrical run, LOVE CHILD by Jonathan Jurilla will be streaming on Netflix starting January 2, 2025 WORLDWIDE. This is also a first for Southern Lantern Studios.

Jonathan Jurilla, a professor at the University of the Philippines Visayas and a father of a child with autism, is a debuting full-length regional filmmaker from Talisay, Negros Occidental. Inspired by his personal journey as a father and husband, Love Child follows a young couple as they navigate the complexities of raising a child on the autism spectrum. The script won first place at the 2023 Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature. The film premiered at the 20th Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival and recently had its international premiere at the 25th San Diego Asian Film Festival.

We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Cinemalaya, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), CreatePHFilms, and especially Regal Entertainment Inc. for helping make this incredible journey possible.
