Dear Struggling Heart,
When it’s hard to surrender, talk to the trees —
and they’ll tell you the beauty of it —
because they understand the pain of letting go.
They must be the first to learn why the leaves are called so —
for they were destined to “leave” the branches that once held them dear when their Maker says “go.”
Imagine Autumn without falling leaves,
oh how tragic a season would be when one refuses to give!
But see when trees, in obedience, surrender their treasures,
you’ll grace how sublime when Autumn gives way so Spring would live!
Talk to the clouds, oh struggling heart!
For they know, too, of the beauty of letting go.
When one chooses to lose in order to gain — this is what they do when you witness the rapture displayed by the falling rain.
Clouds could have chosen to withhold too for they know the pain, but at their Master’s command, they’d never refrain.
Imagine a world without the falling rain,
the drought it would cause to the thirsty earth!
But see when clouds, in surrender, let go of the thought of its potential pain,
you’ll grace how marvelous to view — all creatures grow and bloom in pure mirth!
And talk to your soul, oh struggling heart!
For you must know, too, the beauty of letting go.
Tell your heart to consider well the trees and the clouds —
they don’t have hands but they’re willing to give what their Maker requires;
they don’t have lips but their obedience gives praises to their Maker aloud;
they don’t have much but they’re willing to let go of everything their Giver desires.
But look at you —
whom He has bestowed lavishly everything a heart could ask for under the heavens,
would it be too much to ask from you that which GOD Himself has given?
Imagine a life without submission,
the pain it would cause to the heart of its GOD!
But see when hearts, in surrender, let go and offer to Him their precious treasures,
you’ll prove how worth it it is to obey;
to win the smile of GOD is the heart’s greatest pleasure!
Consider the trees, the clouds, and your heart too —
and by then you’ll be wise enough to understand,
life is not always about having — your way and your will —
sometimes it’s also about giving — of letting go and letting GOD.
And you will understand, the only way to keep is by losing.
This is the secret of living.
Thanks to the trees that let go, we have Autumn!
And thanks to the clouds that let go, we have rain!
And I hope someday I could say,
“Thanks to you too — we have witnessed a life of obedience that proves, in GOD, losing is always gain!”
