Hello, Horizon Scribes! The excitement continues at BNHS' School Publication, The Horizon! Tomorrow, on January 20, 2024, we're diving straight into the second day of our School-Based Seminar Workshop, featuring engaging group events. Be sure to mark your calendars and set your alarms because events such as Science and Technology Writing, Copyreading and Headline Writing, Online Publishing, and Collaborative Desktop Publishing are going to be highlighted. With the aim of expanding knowledge and developing the skills of student writers in the field of journalism, Basud National High School's publication, The Horizon has begun the first day of the School-Based Seminar-Workshop in Campus Journalism earlier today, January 14, 2024.
Several interested students from grades 7-12 joined, and some School Paper Advisers of Camarines Norte also attended and shared their expertise as lecturer-judges.
Students and staffers have actively participated in discussions and workshops on News Writing, Feature Writing, Photojournalism, Editorial Writing, Column Writing, Editorial Cartooning, Radio Broadcasting and Script Writing, and Sports Writing.
The School-Based Seminar-Workshop was conducted in preparation for the upcoming Division Schools Press Conference.

The Horizon Welcomes New Staffers through Primary Screening
Basud National High School's School Publication, The Horizon, welcomed around 30 students today, October 13, 2023 for the primary screening of potential new staff members.
The students were tasked to write an article based on the given data and information, wherein they can only use their prior knowledge in writing journalism. They were taught the basics, ethics, and standards of journalism only after submitting their outputs.
This screening event, spearheaded by Ethan Ferr Galvan, The Horizon's Co-Adviser, focused on assessing the candidates' writing skills. Galvan emphasized that the screening not only identifies new talents but also acts as a training opportunity for aspiring writers who aim to contribute to the school's official newspaper's full-fledged publication.
As the screening day concluded, anticipation grew for the announcement of the next group of The Horizon's staff members as well as the incoming School-Based Seminar and Workshop.

BNHS notches top places in Spoken Poetry and Oratorical Speech
Basud National High School's Vanna Isabel Auro of Grade 12 - Faith (HUMSS) secured the coveted 1st place in Malayang Taludturan (Spoken Poetry) along with Bruce Jairus Guadines of Grade 10 - Charity, who placed 2nd in Oratorical Speech Category during the commemoration of Wenceslao Q. Vinzons' 113th Birth Anniversary at the Camarines Norte Provincial Capitol Audio Visual Room, September 26, 2023.
The two showcased exceptional oratory command and graceful poetic artistry as they revolve their performance around this year's theme, "๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ฌ๐ฅ๐๐จ ๐.๐๐ข๐ง๐ณ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ฒ ๐จ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ ๐, ๐๐ก๐๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ซ, ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ."

Basud National High School's Madulang Sabayang Pagbigkas Team clinched 2nd place during the celebration of the 113th Birth Anniversary of Wenceslao "Bintao" Q. Vinzons at SM City Daet, September 25, 2023.
The team exhibited powerful stage presence as they deliver the piece's message with excellence. They were guided and honed by their coaches, Lea Rose Regondola, Cleo Marga Labaro-Baleza, and Herman Abanto.
The theme of this year's celebration is "Honoring Wenceslao Q. Vinzons; A Legacy of Vision, Leadership, and Nation-Building"
