This is how he feels

Recently, he beat his previous competition time of 1:05 in the 50 meters. On December 23, he clocked 1:02, and on December 26, he improved again to 1:01. Today, he was aiming for 1:00.

On his first attempt, he swam 1:04. I talked to him about what he could do to go faster, and he wanted to try again. He swam 1:04 once more. I decided to move on to the next program, but he didn’t want to stop. He told me he wanted more sprint work because he really wanted to beat his time and reach 1:00.

So I told him, “Sige, let’s aim for 1:02, then we’ll go play at the mall.” He tried again and got 1:02. After that, I told him, “Let’s go, let’s play in the mall.”

If I hadn’t said that, he wouldn’t have stopped—he would have kept going until he hit 1:00.
