Hawkers.

Aside from getting a literal taste of local culture and culinary exploits, it’s a great reminder to take a moment and take a break from the touristy travel itinerary and sit and feast on what has been set before you.

Such can be said of life. We can get caught up in seeking life’s adventures, “commuting” from one point to another, or just simply too busy because we dont know how to say no to life’s constant demands. Hence, Jesus Himself said, “One thing is needed…” - and that was to sit and feed from Him. Taste and see that the Lord is good, amidst the sometimes harsh realities of life. It is good for your soul. HE IS good for your soul.

A tale of 3 boats.

Launched. It can be daunting and nerve-wracking launching out into the vast unknown every single day. No matter how many times you do it, the uncertain always has a way of bringing up fear that can freeze you right in your tracks. That’s why launching out into the great unknown is always done with a mixture of faith and fear.

Faith because you have a knowing your vessel will hold through the stormiest of gales. Faith because the work that’s been put into it is more than sufficient. Faith because you know it’s EXACTLY what it has been built to do.

Fear because, well, we naturally fear what we dont know and what we dont fully understand. Thats why we learn to do it afraid anyway.

Have you been launched out and you feel lost in the vastness of your season or the greatness of your responsibilities? Do you feel like youre out in the middle of the sea just floating, drifting along with the tides? Or perhaps, youve been buffeted by wave after wave and storm after storm and you feel like your boat just might be on the way down.

It’s in these times that even in the face of fear and uncertainty, you let your heart be gripped by the One who built and designed your boat, the One who called you to launch out and the One who’s in the boat with you anyway!

Your boat will hold, your launch will fulfill its purpose and the One who is with you will bring you home.

All will be well. You are not alone. So, Launch Out! Cheering you on today!

A tale of 3 boats.

Beached. At the end of another long day, or in some cases, a long tiring night, the boat is led back to the shore for the day’s catch to be unloaded, nets to be mended and bait be replenished.

While beached, it not only gives the fishermen an opportunity to do the abovementioned necessaries, but it also gives time for the boat to be inspected for small defects or minor damages to be corrected and addressed. A rudder loose, an engine lacking oil, unstable outriggers - all affecting performance in the relentless open sea.

While being beached for only a SHORT amount of time, the daily care that goes into the boat matters a whole lot into the longevity and effectivity of the vessel.

It matters what you do in the “in betweens”. Dont just coast from one work to another and fulfilling one goal after another. A greater work needs to be put in, in the goal of becoming the best you that you can be - more like Christ. And sometimes, that greater work is found in the little tweaks that can be found while youre “beached”.

What do you do on your down time? Let the Lord work on you and let Him tweak what needs to be tweaked. A moment letting the Lord touch you is worth far more than you doing all the work for and by yourself.

A tale of 3 boats.

Dry docked.

There’s a time for all activities to cease, explorations to pause and travels to halt - all in the name of keeping a boat in ship shape so that its life may be prolonged and confidence in it be unquestioned. It may seem that the boat is stuck, but really, it’s just intentionally docked.

It is in this time where repairs, maintenance and upgrades are carried out, far from where the action is. It is also in this time that it is assured that though the unexpected may come, it remains strong, sturdy and ready!

Your season of Launching out will come soon again. And you will come out of the docks better, bolder and stronger.

Dont let who you are becoming become imprisoned by who you were. Who you are becoming is an ever evolving reality as you discover more of who God says you are and as His will is progressively made known to you.

Man tends to default to and embrace the comforts of what he has previously known to be his norm. And yet, Scripture is replete with examples of how God constantly fearfully and wonderfully fashions man according to His good pleasure, through life’s changing seasons, to bring him beyond norms that have seemingly become limitations.

Moses went from the Prince of Egypt to being a fugitive in hiding to a shepherd in the backside of the desert to becoming Israel’s deliverer. David was a smelly shepherd boy, who became Israel’s champion turned most wanted man in Israel on the run and then became the nation’s most beloved King. Peter was an uneducated self-conscious fisherman who became the eloquent preacher on Pentecost where 3000 people came to know Christ.

Whether you have been an entrepreneur for decades, a housewife for the past seasons, a student in what has seemed to be an eternity of thesis defenses, or an employee in the same company for years, God is still in the business of breaking boundaries and man-made limitations to show forth His goodness and glory. Sure, stay faithful where youre at, just dont make it your prison.

If God calls you to come, then come. Where He is is where you will find you. The real you. There’s more to you than what was. Trust Him today, will ya?

A cause coupled with courage conceives a confidence to confront complications even in the context of a crisis.

What’s your cause today? Is it to make your business prosper? Is it to provide for your family? Is it to secure your children’s future? Is it to be a blessing to more than your immediate circle? Is it the cause of Christ - to know Him and make Him known?

May courage and faith rise up from within you to move your cause forward amidst the many complications life may bring as you establish your heart in the truth that in the middle of a crisis, Christ Is!

Christ. Is. Enough.

Sometimes, to see the significance of your season, God will have to go beyond what immediately makes sense.

It didnt make sense for Isaac to sow in the land of famine, nor did it make sense for Noah to build an ark. It didnt make sense for the disciples to trust the one previously consenting to their murder, and it definitely didnt make sense to see the sinless Son of God scourged and crucified.

But Isaac reaped a hundredfold, Noah’s ark saved his family from the flood, Paul would be the church’s leading figure and Jesus didnt remain forever crucified. He resurrected victorious over sin, death and the grave once and for all.

Whatever your season today looks like - it may look futile like Isaac, foolish like Noah, risky like the disciples or it may look like THE END like the Cross - know that what God has up ahead confounds the rational, boggles the religious and yet makes all things work together for the good of those He loves.

So when things dont make sense in your season, remember that God’s significant work you will see soon! There is significance in every season! You. Are. Significant.

Nobody wants to make mistakes, and yet we all do it. No one wants to fail, and yet its simply part of life. No one wants to fall short, and yet it happens to the best of us.

Where in your life have you taken a wrong turn that you wish you couldve gone the other way? What of your past still haunts you today as if it just happened yesterday? What has happened recently that has kept your soul under a dark cloud of unbelief and paralysis?

May you be reminded, beloved, God’s grace was available to wife-denying Abraham, to a wife-coveting King David, or to a downcast and depressed herald of truth in Jeremiah. God’s grace was evident in the life of murderous Saul, who later on became Paul. It was so vividly dispensed through Jesus as His lives touched the adulterous woman, the tax-collector, the sinner by the well, and even the thief who hung beside Him on Calvary.

God’s Grace is not a variable in this complicated sea of life, it is a constant. The question that you simply need to answer is - Is your view of the grace of God big enough to accommodate even your bad decisions? Let God’s Grace find you today!

The pursuit of God is a pursuit of your destiny. You will never be nearer to your destiny than you are nearer to God!

So, if you’re feeling lost in your purpose, in your season or in your calling, your True North, Jesus Christ, is never far away. In fact, He is closer than the air you breathe.

As you move forward with Jesus, know that your destiny is intact, Your future is secure and your success guaranteed. Keep. Moving. Forward.

Death had no hold on Him. The grave that thought it could rob the world of Life, was robbed instead. And sin, that age old adversary that set apart man from God, was once and for all conquered. He rose to give life to your spirits, substance to your faith and hope to your hearts. He rose to show you your destiny and the desired end of God in all things - that you reign glorious with Him. Arise, oh child of God. As He rose, so you arise!
