PAWS TO PUSH FOR SANCTIONS AGAINST MOTORISTS WHO USE VEHICLES TO TORTURE OR HARM ANIMALS ON THE ROAD
PAWS condemns the act of cruelty committed by Jun Mendoza, who was seen dragging a cat tethered to his tricycle across the road in a video posted online. This horrifying and violent act is not an isolated incident but part of a deeply disturbing and recurring pattern of inhumane animal transportation that must be addressed.
The original poster and key witness, Ken Ordinario, has committed to PAWS that he will actively participate as the primary witness in the investigative hearing for the criminal case filed by the Malasiqui Police with the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor.
Recognizing PAWS' expertise in animal welfare and cruelty prosecutions, the LTO has reached out to the organization to take part in the investigative hearing. In this capacity, PAWS will push for the immediate revocation of Jun Mendoza’s license, along with other severe sanctions. PAWS will not waver in its efforts to make such penalties the standard for motorists who misuse their vehicles to violate the Animal Welfare Act or to engage in acts of torture or cruelty against animals on the road. This includes inhumane transportation practices such as dragging animals, transporting animals in trunks, and the widespread issue of live animals being confined in the cargo hold compartments of buses.
PAWS is resolute in its commitment to ensuring that justice is served and that all individuals who commit animal cruelty face the full extent of the law. We will continue to pursue every avenue necessary to prevent these inhumane acts and hold perpetrators accountable.
