A little trip down memory lane of summer '23. This was when my dreamy Pinterest board came to life. One summer that changed my perspective about solo traveling and doing it on a budget as a broke 23-year-old Filipina. The pasta, the beautiful streets, the focaccia and arancini, the hostel life, the spontaneity, and the friends you make along the way, and the absolute freedom and magic you have for yourself while letting your feet wander wherever they go.

Catania and Ortigia will always have my heart.

Navigating friendship and relationship in my 20's in a foreign city must've been one of the hardest yet most fulfilling thing I have ever done. For anyone who are trying to find their footing anywhere in the world, here's a rough draft about finding a soul tribe as a 20 something.

I know it can be tough, but once you find your people, maybe life isn't too scary after all.

Looking back, 2023 felt like a rebirth. Here are the things I intentionally changed to (symbolically) start anew:

1. Playlist - I deleted everything and listened to new artists and genre. Built it slowly with time.

2. Perfume - Scents make us remember so much. So I bought new ones to create fresh memories with.

3. Relationship - I ended my six years relationship. Hurts like hell but I gotta bite the bullet anyway.

4. Hair - I let my hair grow so long. It reminds me that I am okay and I have time however it stops for nobody.

5. Personal style - It turns out there’s no one holding a gun to my head, forcing me to stick with what I’m used to.

6. Name - I introduced myself as Daniella. People back home knew me as Danie; I knew myself as Danie. It still sounds strange to me, but it’s the coolest thing every time I get to say Daniella.

7. City - I moved to another city for a year. (10/10 recommend!!!) Amsterdam changed me in the soul level.

8. Interests - I tried stuff I never thought I would. I'm not the person to label experiences as morally right or wrong but baby I gave myself the liberty to try EVERYTHING and that changed everything for me.

9. Narratives - I asked fu***ng questions and I was okay how my answers changed.

Change is daunting, but it could also be the best thing to ever happen to you. Hope you find the courage to do it for you. 🤎
