Rauh-Welt Begriff RWB is a German word that translates to "Rough World Concept" which the "Rough World" name is also the name of Nakai-San's drift club in Japan.
Who is Akira Nakai San?
Born on October 15, 1970 (about 53 years old now), he is a Japanese artist, car mechanic and tuner who is behind the RWB concept, his company RWB or known as Rauh-Welt Begriff has been around since 1997, meaning he has been doing this for over 26 years now, a little more than half of his life.
His concept of RWB is combining Japanese and European tuning elements on Porsche chassis to bring a unique and distinct style like no other.
Each RWB car is uniquely named by Nakai-San, these kits are hand made by the legend himself and he will be the one to install it and make sure that his "artwork" will be perfect.
It's more than just a kit, it has changed the car culture and has built a family of RWB cars in different parts of the world.
His first personal RWB car was a Porsche 911 930 series, which he named "Stella Artois" since the idea or concept came to him while drinking a Stella Artois beer, which is also his favorite beer.
His precision with his work is just astonishing! No measuring tools needed, his measuring tool are his eyes, attention to every specific detail.
He designs these kits for Porsche 993, 964, 930 and 997 series and more models to come in the future.
The kit comes with front and rear bumpers, side rockers, wide fenders, a choice of either a GT2, 3.8 or a Champion type wing, with an option of a set of SSR wheels or Aragosta suspension system for that "dramatic stance".
It will take a year or so to be able to get one but only through an Authorized RWB partner, which is Car P**n Racing here in the Philippines (You can message them for inquiries and pricing), once the kits are done, RWB will send it to your country and then they will schedule it when Nakai-San can come and install it.
It will take 48 hours (2 days) for Nakai-San to finish a car.
But as an artist, he needs a place wherein he can work freely, have coffee/smoke breaks and a couch where he can sit comfortably during his breaks.
As for Nakai-San, Its not all about the money but more on his passion, the love for his work of art.
"I basically build cars for me, not for business. If I built it for business, then I will just make a much easier kit so that when people buy it, they can just install it themselves."
-Akira Nakai San
Watching him built the Porsche of Kyle of Fitment Engineering, I saw how precise and persistent he is, even on his smoke breaks, you can see that he is just staring at the car checking every detail and making sure that all are perfectly aligned, even the gaps between the car and the kit are perfectly symmetrical.
A humble and honest person, I admire him not only for his love and passion for cars but also for humbleness and simplicity.
"People think of me as a legend, but everyone is a legend in their own field. I am just maybe a legend in this car industry, but everyone is equal." - Akira Nakai San
Thank you to Angie King of Car P**n Racing for bringing the legend back here in the Philippines and opening it to the public at the Karrera Showroom so that everyone can get to watch the legend at work on these 3 beautiful Porsches.
Last but not the least, congratulations to Kevin Cheung and Kyle for their new RWBs and thank you Kevin for inviting me in this event and making sure I get to see Nakai-San up close.
