Thank you, 2023!
What are you most thankful for in 2023?
Take time to pause before welcoming the new year 2024.
"Divide and conquer."
A divided house will not stand.
Let us not promote division in the Catholic Church.
Today's Gospel reminds us that a divided house will not stand.
Let us not let the devil use us as instruments of division in the Church.
Let me share this video clip from Fr. Genaro Diwa, Head of the Commission on Liturgy of the Archdiocese of Manila. He discusses the controversial hand gestures during the Our Father.
I had been seeing many people forwarding photos telling people that the raising or hands by the faithful or the mass-goers during the Our Father is wrong/unacceptable.
Please, the GIRM is silent about this. There is no specific statement there that tells us that the raising of hands to pray during this part of the Mass is not acceptable.
Unless there is a new teaching or GIRM that explicitly tells us that this is wrong, please let us let other Catholics pray in this way without judgement. Let us simply respect those who feel more connected to our Father by praying in this posture.
Moreover, many Catholics who are part of the Catholic charismatic movements pray in this way. It is called body worship. The raising of hands when praying means that they are praying with faith, trust and surrender to God. They are also asking/begging God for provision and favor. Body worship is even biblical.
So, let us just accept that Catholics have different ways also of expressing their prayer or worship even in the celebration of the Mass. These adaptations are already allowed in Vatican II.
Let us not contribute to disunity in the Church.
#unity
2022 might have given us challenges both big and small but it was also a year of blessings.
Let us search our hearts and call to mind those moments, those times when we felt the Lord's help, love, and presence.
Let us count our blessings and thank the Lord for the year that was and the good things that we experienced and received in the past year!
Feel free to share your blessings in the comments!
Let us rejoice in the past year's blessings and thank God in advance for more blessings and answered prayers in 2023!
