FACEBOOK GAMING UPDATES
All Partner and Level Up Creators can now play background music during their gaming livestreams on Facebook Gaming — including clips made from a livestream and the VOD versions of livestreams.
And we’re not talking elevator music. We've got deals in place with hundreds of music labels, publishers, and societies, including Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Kobalt Music Group, BMG, Merlin and many more, so creators can include popular music in their Facebook Gaming livestreams to get their audiences hyped. Plus creators aren’t limited to preselected playlists — we’re giving creators the freedom to play the music they want, when they want.
Best of all, music is available to you regardless of your device or streaming software. PC, Mac, or console? A-ok. OBS, Streamelements OBS, Streamlabs OBS, what have you? We’ve got you covered.
A few restricted tracks aren’t licensed for use on Facebook Gaming, but they’re rare, and we’re always working to expand the amount of music that’s available to use. If you run into a restricted track, we’ll surface an in-product notification that identifies the artist and title. That way you can adjust your playlist to avoid future interruptions.
We’ve also improved our background music detection. In other words, we’ve gotten a lot better at telling the difference between music in the background of your gaming stream, like when there’s simultaneous gameplay or voiceover (allowed) vs. music that’s the focus of your livestream, like a radio show (not allowed). Better living through machine learning.
To celebrate the growth of music on Facebook Gaming, we’re hosting a series of celebrity DJ streams paired with select gaming creators. In this series, called , DJs will dynamically spin the background soundtrack to live gaming by our creators. Diplo and DJ Khaled are two of our headliners. Click here for more details!
Gaming and music are a match made in heaven, and we hope our partnership with the music industry opens the door to future collaborations and opportunities for artists, gamers, and fans alike. We’ll continue working with our music partners to bring those possibilities to life.
