Robin Padilla: “walang revolution naganap dahil wala naman nagbago”

As the Philippines marked the 35th anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution on Thursday, Senator Francis ‘Kiko’ Pangilinan reminded Filipinos to remain ‘woke’ and keep the EDSA spirit alive.

“Becoming ‘woke’ is a continuing process. The road to EDSA was paved with the sacrifices and heroism, many of them young people,” he said in a statement.

“One day you will be asked: When thousands are being killed, billions are being stolen, and hundreds of thousands are being arrested - what were you doing?,” he asked

He challenged everyone to open their eyes and make an action for the country’s betterment.

“Panatilihin nating buhay ang diwa ng EDSA People Power. Magtanong. Maghanap ng mga sagot. Makinig. Matuto. Maging mulat. Kumilos,” he stressed.

Actor Robin Padilla reacted on Pangilinan’s pronouncements:

“Matagal na kaming gising at mulat sa Edsa Revolution na wala naman naidulot sa Pilipino kundi power grabbing. Mas lalong Yumaman Lang ang mga mayayaman at mas lalong naghirap ang mga mahihirap,” he said in a Facebook post.

He told the senator not to teach him about people power “dahil isa ang tatay ko sa arkitekto niyan at pagkatapos mag wagi ay pinagmitsahan pa ng buhay nya na mga kasama rin niya ang mga kasabwat dahil sa jueteng at smuggling.”

Padilla further emphasized “walang revolution na naganap dahil wala naman nagbago. Presyo nga ng galunggong hindi na maabot ng isang mahirap na Pilipino.”
