TODAY'S PRAYER
May 28, 2024

Oh the Most Loving and Merciful God, thank You for the gift of Your Spirit. Thank You for calling us to be a worker in Your kingdom and for equipping us for the tasks that You’ve set before us. Help us to understand our gifts and joyfully embrace our role, so that You may be glorified in all that we do. And use us to encourage others in using their gifts, too. In Jesus’ name, amen.

CALL TO WORSHIP, PRACTICE BEFORE WE SERVE

The Eucharist is the celebration of the real presence of Christ in the sacrament wherein liturgical music can enhance the awareness of this divine presence. Music is a divine gift which become a vital means of encouraging this participation that allows the faithful to take an active role in the Mass, not just as observers but as active participants in the worship of God.

The beauty and transcendence of sacred music can help lift the minds and hearts of the faithful, creating a sense of closeness to God and facilitating a deeper encounter with the divine. The participation of the believers in the whole liturgy of the Holy Eucharist reflects the unity and communal nature of the Church.

In this sense, practicing in choir is essential for achieving musical clarity, understanding and interpreting the repertoire, improving vocal technique, and ensuring liturgical coordination. It also builds confidence, fosters a sense of community, and prepares the choir to adapt to different settings and special liturgical seasons. Regular practice enables the choir to enhance the worship experience, leading the congregation in a more profound and beautiful expression of faith through music.

Ps: Himaya sa Dios practice mood, bahala kuno ug naulahi basta nakasugod.

Once upon a time, in the ancient land of Israel, there lived a man named Joseph. Joseph was known throughout his village as a man of unyielding faith and boundless joy. Despite facing many trials and tribulations in his life, Joseph remained steadfast in his devotion to the Lord.

Joseph's journey of joyful service to the Lord began when he was just a young boy. He was sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken far from his home to the land of Egypt. Despite the hardships of his circumstances, Joseph never lost faith in God's plan for his life.

In Egypt, Joseph was bought by a wealthy man named Potiphar and served as his household servant. Despite being a slave, Joseph worked diligently and joyfully, always trusting that God had a purpose for his life. His positive attitude and unwavering faith caught the attention of Potiphar, who soon put Joseph in charge of his entire household.

However, Joseph's faith would soon be put to the test once again. Potiphar's wife falsely accused Joseph of wrongdoing, and he was thrown into prison. But even in the darkest of times, Joseph continued to serve the Lord with joy and integrity.

In prison, Joseph used his God-given gifts of interpretation to help his fellow inmates. He interpreted dreams for them, offering them hope and encouragement in their despair. Joseph's reputation as a wise and faithful servant of the Lord grew, and soon he caught the attention of Pharaoh, the ruler of Egypt.

Pharaoh had been troubled by dreams that none of his wise men could interpret. Hearing of Joseph's gift, he summoned him from prison to interpret his dreams. Joseph, guided by the wisdom of the Lord, revealed to Pharaoh the meaning of his dreams and offered a solution to the impending famine that they foretold.

Impressed by Joseph's wisdom and insight, Pharaoh appointed him as the second-in-command of all Egypt, second only to himself. Joseph's joyful service to the Lord had not only saved the people of Egypt from starvation but had also elevated him to a position of great influence and power.

In his new role, Joseph worked tirelessly to prepare Egypt for the seven years of famine that were to come. He stored up grain and provisions, ensuring that the people would have enough to eat during the difficult times ahead. And throughout it all, Joseph never lost sight of the source of his strength and joy—the Lord.

When the famine finally struck, Joseph's preparations saved not only the people of Egypt but also his own family back in Israel. His brothers, who had once betrayed him, came to Egypt in search of food, unaware that their brother Joseph was now the powerful ruler they were seeking.

But Joseph harbored no bitterness or resentment towards his brothers. Instead, he welcomed them with open arms, forgiving them for their past wrongs and embracing them as family once again. Through his acts of grace and reconciliation, Joseph demonstrated the transformative power of God's love and forgiveness.

In the end, Joseph's story serves as a powerful testament to the joy that comes from serving the Lord faithfully, even in the face of adversity. Despite the many trials and hardships he faced, Joseph never wavered in his faith or his commitment to God's plan for his life. And in return, he was rewarded with blessings beyond measure, both in this life and the next.

A BRIEF LOOK OF IGLESIA FILIPINA INDEPENDIENTE AS A CHURCH

1. The Church is the Body of which Jesus Christ is the Head, and all baptized people are the members.

2. The Iglesia Filipina Independiente is a congregation of new men educated in and liberated by the teaching of Christ, dedicated to the worship of God in spirit and in truth, nourished and sustained in the Eucharist, and commissioned to be witnesses to God's love in the world.

3.When Jesus gave to the Apostles the Divine Commission to reach the Gospel to all nations and gave them the special gift of the Holy Spirit to carry on his work of bringing men to God he ordained them for the Ministry, to preach, to administer the Sacraments, to declare God's forgiveness of sins and to guide God's family. Thus, the Ministry is an essential part of the Church. The Apostles preserved and continued this Ministry through the laying of hands with prayer, and the Church guided by the Holy Spirit persisted ever since to hold that Ministry.

4.The Church as a human institution shall promulgate ecclesiastical laws and rules for the clergy and laity in the exercise of their respective ministries, in their participation in the Holy Sacraments, and in regard to their obligation both in their interior life and their exterior behaviour.

5.Thus, the laws of the Church are binding upon the clerical and lay members thereof whom they are issued and promulgated.

6.Official interpretation of the laws and rules of the Church rests in the Executive Commission.
