In a press release published at the DOH website in October 2020, it was revealed that based on the Philippine WHO Special Initiative for Mental Health conducted in the early part of 2020, at least 3.6 million Filipinos suffer from one kind of mental, neurological, and substance use disorder.

With COVID-19 still having global impact on mental health, Yvan V. Gruenberg and a group of college students, mainly from De La Salle University, founded PsyPoints, a youth-led organization that spreads mental health awareness among Filipinos.

In a news article published on September 10, 2020 in the website of World Health Organization Philippines, the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) revealed that the numbers of monthly hotline calls regarding depression rose from 80 calls pre-lockdown to nearly 400.

This only shows how important it is to raise awareness on public mental health, an advocacy that 4 DLSU sophomores started to commit to amid the pandemic.
