The KBP participated in the launch of the 2024-2028 Comprehensive Media Program for Children (CMPC) by the National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT), an attached agency of the Department of Education (DepEd). The event took place at The Heritage Hotel Manila in Pasay today, October 18.

The CMPC serves as a roadmap focused on creating media content that is educational, value-driven, and age-appropriate for children.

During the event, KBP Chairman Ruperto S. Nicdao Jr. and KBP President Noel C. Galvez signed the manifesto, signifying KBP’s commitment to producing child-friendly content across its member stations.

The KBP has been promoting self-regulation and responsible broadcasting among its members.

"The KBP is forever a partner of COMELEC."

COMELEC Chairperson George Erwin Garcia expressed his gratitude to the KBP for being its long-standing media partner in elections.

For the 2025 midterm elections, the KBP will be part of the media server. The KBP and the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) shall receive and analyze the electronic transmissions of votes from the Automated Counting Machines (ACMs), and conduct a nationwide unofficial parallel count of the votes for the national and local positions based on the fourth printed copy of the Election Returns (ERs) generated by the ACM in the clustered polling precincts.

The COMELEC also released its rules on the use of social media in relation to the elections.

The COMELEC moved the filing of certificates of candidacy in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao from October 1-8 to November 2-9 after the Supreme Court ruled that Sulu is not part of BARMM.

Mr. Robbie Aligada, Executive Director of the Ad Standards Council (ASC), discussed "How KBP Local Chapters Can Promote Compliance with Advertising Standards under the Ad Standards Council and the Food and Drug Administration."

He explained how the ASC screens and approves advertisements for broadcast and other platforms, emphasizing the importance of protecting consumers from false product claims.

"Ito 'yung mga nagsasaad sa kanilang ads ng mga bagay na hindi naman totoo. Kung hahayaan natin ang fake news na umiral sa ating himpapawid--there will be anarchy. Who will be at the losing end? It's the consumer," Aligada said.

The ASC was established in 2008 by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), the Philippine Association of National Advertisers (PANA), and the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies - Philippines (4As). The ASC promotes self-regulation of advertising content with the overarching goal of consumer protection.

The KBP Cerge M. Remonde Leadership Conference will run from September 18 to 19 in Makati.

He also shared some memories of the late Press Secretary and broadcaster Cerge M. Remonde, after whom this conference is named.
