We are proud to announce that DX1HAM, led by its Club President Ronald Byron P. Yap, DU1SVZ, has been awarded 1st Place Plaque for Fixed Station High Power at the 2024 GSP International Friendship Exchange (INFEX) and DX Contest.

A special recognition was also given to our Club Trustee, Mr. Alberto Villanueva, DU1AV, which was received on his behalf by Darwin Gavino, DU1DG.

The award was presented by Mrs. Lourdes A. Javillo, Council Executive of the Manila Girl Scout Council, at the MGSC Headquarters in Nagtahan, Manila on September 13, 2024.

On January 20, 2024, the Ham Radio Emergency Communications Group Inc. (DX1HAM) had the privilege of conducting a Ham Radio Orientation at the Manila Girl Scout Council Headquarters at Nagtahan Road, Pandacan, Manila. This event was a preparation for the Girl Scouts who participated in the recent International Friendship Exchange (INFEX) and DX Contest held on February 17, 2024.

VOLCANIC SMOG ALERT UPDATE

Volcanic smog (vog) from Taal Volcano has now reached several areas in Cavite and Laguna as of Sunday evening, August 18.

Affected areas in Cavite include Maragondon, Silang, GMA, Alfonso, Imus, and Indang, while in Laguna, the areas impacted are Calamba, San Pedro, Biñan, and Cabuyao.

Local governments in Cavite and Laguna have issued advisories recommending that residents stay indoors and wear face masks to minimize exposure.

Volcanic smog or vog can cause irritation to the eyes, throat, respiratory tract, and skin. The severity of these effects can vary depending on the concentration of vog and the length of exposure.

Currently, a significant portion of Batangas is still experiencing volcanic smog. Stay safe and take necessary precautions.
