Lumagui: BIR raids V**e Store with Secret “Menu” & Bodega of Illicit V**e during Nationwide Raid

Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui Jr. reports that during the nationwide raid against illicit v**e last November 19, 2024 the BIR caught a v**e store selling illicit v**e through a secret "menu". Commissioner Lumagui himself raided and inspected the premises, after which he discovered that the products displayed in the illicit v**e "menu" were not displayed in the store itself, but stocked in a bodega behind the store. The illicit v**e store raided by Commissioner Lumagui is located in Tomas Morato, one of the prime commercial centers in Quezon City.

"We raided a v**e store with a secret 'menu' and bodega for illicit v**e during our nationwide raid today. The v**e store displayed legal v**e, but once you ask for illicit v**e, they will bring the 'menu' and get the illicit v**e from the bodega. We know what you are doing. We will not stop raiding your stores. We will continue with our nationwide raids. Expect criminal cases," Commissioner Lumagui stated.

The aforementioned v**e store was selling v**e without internal revenue stamps. The BIR also discovered that the store failed to issue an original receipt upon purchase of the illicit v**e.

Details of the seized products and the raided establishments during the nationwide raid are currently being consolidated. The BIR will update the public as soon as the details are available.

"Report illicit v**e retailers/resellers, with addresses, and the BIR will raid them. You can also report illicit v**e being sold online, just provide us with the website link. All reports on illicit v**e can be forwarded to [email protected]," Commissioner Lumagui stated.

Department of Budget headed by Secretary Amenah Pangandaman approves release of P5 Billion to enhance DSWD Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation Program

In adherence to the directive of President Bongbong Marcos to immediately respond to the needs of communities ravaged by natural disasters, Department of Budget and Management Secretary Amenah "Mina" F. Pangandaman has approved the release of the Special Allotment Release Order (SARO) and its corresponding Notice of Cash Allocation (NCA) amounting to P5 billion for the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

“Hindi natin maikakaila ang matinding epekto ng climate crisis dito sa Pilipinas. Dumaan ang bagyong Nika, Ofel, Pepito, at maraming pa ang parating. Ang dagdag ponding ito sa DSWD ay para sa ating mga kababayan na apektado ng krisis. Through this, we are sustaining support for vulnerable and marginalized communities. We are bridging the resource gap required for extensive disaster recovery and sustained support throughout the nation,” says Secretary Mina.

The AICS program is a critical component of DSWD’s services, providing essential support such as medical, burial, transportation, education, and food assistance, along with financial aid for other urgent needs of individuals and families in crisis.

The allocation of these additional funds is in accordance with the special provisions in the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA) concerning the use of Unprogrammed Appropriations (UA). These provisions permit the utilization of funds for vital infrastructure and social programs, including financial aid for indigent citizens, contingent upon the availability of new or excess revenue collections.
