When a mom feels down, she drags herself out of bed. She feels agitated for no real reason but also every reason. But the sound of her children's voices says it's time to start this new day,⁣⁣
⁣⁣
so she does.⁣⁣
⁣
The routine of the day is a choreographed dance. She’s done it so many times she can do it on autopilot. She gets everyone dressed and ready. Prepares all the meals and snacks. Does the chores, grocery shopping, laundry, schedules, homework help, plays with her kids, drop-offs, and pick-ups. She does it ALL.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
She's physically present but emotionally absent. She laughs when one of her kids is funny, but she doesn't feel happy. She plays dinosaurs, but it’s hard for her to ignore the pangs of sadness. And details of the day are hazy at best.⁣⁣
⁣
The busyness never stops, but neither does her down mood.⁣⁣
⁣
But she keeps moving, and she doesn’t stop moving until the day’s end.⁣⁣
⁣
And when she has a moment to peek through the fog, she sees a beam of light in her children’s eyes. Because she sees how loved she is.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So, for now, she'll hug and kiss her kids and play with them no matter what she feels or what the day brings.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And tomorrow, she'll try again.⁣⁣
⁣
But until then, she'll push through the discomfort and do whatever she has to do.⁣⁣
⁣
Because that’s what moms do.
