What drew you to Health Carousel?
Health Carousel was first introduced to me by a friend. At first I was hesitant because the whole process was easier than I thought and how my American dream was just within my reach, but I trusted them anyway. Thank God I did. HC helped me and assited me even if I do not have my USRN license yet. They made sure that I am able to accomplish my paperworks in a timely manner. Even if I am already here in the US, HC still continue to assist me and make sure that I am equipped with knowledge, professionally growing, and practicing safely at work. I am forever grateful for the opportunity that Health Carousel has given to me and my family.

What have been some of the most important lessons you've learned throughout your career since working in the USA?
Working in the US has really brought me out of my comfort zone. Since I started working here, I feel like there is always a room for growth that I need to fill in. It has been an endless learning journey. Working also in an environment with diverse culture had put me in an opportunity to learn from people I work with and patients I am taking care of. It has broaden my knowledge of care, that care comes in different approaches.
I learned that working in the best country in the world would require the best part of me. It’s been a challenge but I am willing to do it everyday.

What would winning Health Carousel International Employee of the Month Award mean to you?
My job as a Mother and Baby/L&D nurse requires different ways of delivering care. Most of the days it work, some days it won’t. Those days that I feel like I should’ve done more for my patient sometimes makes me inefficient. Winning as an Employee of the month will be my tangible and constant reminder that I am doing my job in an excellent way and how much I have grown over the years. Being nominated and acknowledged has already made me feel great , and I will hold on to that especially on days that I am doubting myself.

What is your favorite American food?
I haven’t really explored so many American foods yet, but my favorite so far is the pumpkin pie. I have always wondered how pumpkin tastes like even when I was still in the Philippines and pumpkin pie is just great!
