Dayon Kamo Ha Tolosa! Three chiefdoms, commanded by Chieftain Daguinot at Labiranan Mountain, Chief Tostosanay at Mount Inapusong, and the formidable Bagupanay tribe led by Chief Bankaw, engaged in a riveting pre-Spanish battle. Daguinot's forces surged towards Lad-an River, Tostosanay countered along the foot of Labiranan (now Pamalbagan River), and undeterred, Daguinot issued yet another challenge to the Bagupanays. Chieftain Bankaw, resolute, embraced the call for war, skillfully piercing Daguinot's defenses and leaving an indelible mark on Malbog, Kiraan, and Kagutom (now Capangihan) along the Kabuyo-an River. Amidst the chaos, a truce was struck, leading to a shift in focus towards community building and joint defense against marauding Moros along the Eastern Leyte coast. United, they erected a watchtower atop Mount Inapusong, with a giant hollow log as a bell, echoing peace across the territory. This era of tranquility bestowed a name upon the settlement: Tolosa, symbolizing the fusion of three tribes into one harmonious community. Today, as a 5th Class Municipality in the Province of Leyte, Tolosa stands as a testament to its rich cultural heritage. His commitment and dedication in public service have inspired many and his legacy as a public servant is forever etched in the lives of those whom he served, most specially the people of Barangay Canmogsay.

As part of the preparations for KALAHI-CIDSSโ€™ upcoming project, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 8 - Eastern Visayas, through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan - Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS), took part in the simultaneous Stakeholdersโ€™ Consultation for the Panahon ng Pagkilos: PH Community Resilience Project (PCRP) in the Municipality of Tolosa, Leyte, today, February 26, 2025.

Officials and representatives from the Barangay and Local Government Units of Tolosa, Leyte, stakeholders, and community volunteers participated in the said activity. Included in the consultation meeting is the discussion on the objectives of the Panahon ng Pagkilos project, simultaneous discussions and open forum in the local Waray dialect.

The KALAHI-CIDSS National Program Management Office, representatives from World Bank, as well as representatives from the KALAHI-CIDSS Regional Program Management Office 8 spearheaded the activity. The said consultation meeting aims to provide necessary information to KALAHI-CIDSSโ€™ partner-stakeholders as well as community volunteers on the key objectives of this new project; seeking environmental sustainability through discussions and recommendations from participants to ensure success of implementation.

The Local Government Unit of Tolosa, in partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, hosted a seminar on the First Philippine Polymer Banknote Series at the 2nd Floor Annex, Municipal Hall today, February 26, 2025. This initiative aims to educate stakeholders on the design and security features of the newly launched polymer banknotes.

The event was attended by the employees from the Municipal Treasurer's Office and Barangay Treasurers. Also present were representatives from pawnshops, and money service businesses operating in the municipality. This will help in the familiarization of the polymer banknote ensuring smoother transactions in the Municipality of Tolosa.

The Local Government Unit of Tolosa, under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Hon. Erwin C. Ocaรฑa, warmly welcome the delegation from Universiti Putra Malaysia, headed by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Noor Amal Azmai of the Institute of Bioscience, UPM, during their visit to the Municipal Hall on February 24, 2025. Also in attendance were VSU Tolosa University Chancellor, Dr. Quenstein D. Lauzon, alongside Dr. June Rey Montajes, and the faculty members of the Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences program.
