BICYCLE LANE...

SOLID WHITE LINE BORDERS:

For cyclists, when the borders of the bicycle line are a solid white line, that means they cannot go outside and have to stay inside the designated bicycle lane.

For motorcycle riders or cars, solid white lines mean they cannot enter the bicycle lane.

DASHED WHITE LINE BORDERS:

For cyclists, when the borders are made up of dashed white lines, it means the lane is no longer exclusive. Other vehicles may enter into the bicycle lane. This is so that other vehicles may move to the right most lane and turn right to exit the road. Vehicles entering the bicycle lane at this point must also be cautious. Cyclists should give way

STRIPED GREEN LANE:

Green lanes that are broken into stripes are meant to warn the cyclists that they are approaching an intersection. With an intersection up ahead, there maybe vehicles passing through the lane to get to the inner lanes, entering the bike lane to turn right or crossing the intersection at a traffic light.

SOLID GREEN LANE:

When in this area, cyclist must be wary because vehicles will enter and exit the bicycle lane to get to establishment or intersections. They should leave room, stop, or move to let other road users (pedestrians or vehicles) pass if necessary. It will remind that cyclists to be cautious and giveway..

What is "SHARROW" road markings?

A sharrow, short for "shared lane arrow," is a road marking used to indicate that a lane is shared by both bicyclists and vehicles. It helps promote safer coexistence and awareness between cyclists and motorists.

This symbol (bicycle logo with arrow on top) is called a sharrow (shared +arrow), and it's meant to indicate that this part of the bicycle lane is a shared roadway. That means, there is no EXCLUSIVE BICYCLE LANE and cars may take up the right right lane most if needed. Cyclists should be extra careful of these areas because vehicles are not obligated to keep the right most part of the road clear.

SWERVING IS NOT A VIOLATION 🤔🤔🤔

according to my research swerving is not a violation. However it can constitute at offense of RECKLESS DRIVING if it is done without precautions (e.g. swerving in an abrupt and careless manner)

SWERVING can defined be defined as a sudden change un direction meant to avoid an object or get ahead of it. Its when a vehicle quickly changes from one lane to another.

REPUBLIC ACT 4136 ARTICLE V
Section 48

RECKLESS DRIVING: No person shall operate a motor vehicle on any highway recklessly or without reasonable caution considering the width, traffic, grades, crossing, curvatures, visibility and other conditions of the highway and the conditions of the atmosphere and weather or so as to endanger the property or the safety or rights of any person or so as to cause excessive or unreasonable damage to the highway.

WHEN TO USE HAZARD LIGHTS

Improper use of hazard lights is a trivial matter, because it places your life - and that of other road users - at risk.

Using your hazard lights well is not just a matter of following the law, its also a part exercising common sense.

1. When your vehicle is stationary in the middle of the road and cannot be moved, whether due to mechanical breakdown or being involved in an accident

2. When you come across the scene of a road accident, which can potentially impede traffic. As the drivers following you might not see whats ahead of you, flashing your hazard lights warns them to slow down

3. Funeral processions involving a large convoy of vehicles are generally considered exempted i.e. they can technically use their hazard lights even when theyre in motion.

4. Use only hazard lights when your vehicle is fully stopped in the middle of the road and is unable to proceed under its own power.

5. Responding emergency Medical Services consider hazard lights as a distress call, like when youre having a stroke, choking on that piece of siomai you were eating while driving. In short, only use hazard lights when youre in a "real emergency"

6. Use headlights or fog lamps only (heavy rains and bad weather). Hazard light use only in low visbility situations will only confuse other motorists, because it will be difficult for them to tell whether youre about to make a turn or not since you cant use your turn signals with hazards engaged.
