As we bid farewell to 2024 and welcome 2025, may we appreciate everything—the good things that happened, even the bad ones which contributed to our growth.

We have survived this year despite the uncertainties, celebrated our small wins in life, and got to experience things that have been added to our memory jar. May we find a way to be grateful for how this year has been to us—from different experiences that lead us to have a sweet ending, closing this chapter with gratitude and welcoming a new one with hope.

As we step into a new year, may we encapsulate in our hearts what 2024 has taught us. May we cleanse ourselves with the love filled in our hearts to diminish hatred, and as we walk through the unforeseen future may we never forget the One who knows the way and trust His provision as we venture life’s endeavor.

A gentle reminder that we still have a long way to go, yet, let’s be proud of how far we’ve come. Together, let us march forward into 2025 embracing the transient nature of life.

Happy New Year from The College Voice family!

As the world transforms into a wonderland—adorned with twinkling lights and vibrant decorations—the spirit of Christmas begins to unfold. This festive season, celebrated on December 25th, is not merely a date on the calendar; it is a collection of traditions, love, and happiness that transcends from one person to another.

Christmas traces its roots back to the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, a time when hope and peace were brought into the world. Over the centuries, it has evolved, adopting various customs from different cultures.

At the heart of Christmas lies the spirit of giving. It’s a time when people express their love and appreciation for one another through thoughtful gifts and acts of kindness. It is a time for family, joy, and spreading goodwill to everyone.

Let's embrace the magic it brings. It's a reminder to celebrate not only the relationships we share with one another but also, and most importantly the birth of a figure who taught love and compassion.

May this season inspire us to spread happiness and kindness, making the world a little brighter for everyone.

FURTHER UPDATE | PHIVOLCS Issues Kanlaon’s Dark Ash Emission Advisory

Due to the ongoing emission of dark ash from Mt. Kanlaon, PHIVOLCS recorded an approximately 1.2 kilometer tall dark plume and a weak low frequency volcanic earthquake expected to fall over communities of Negros Occidental northwest to west of the volcano, December 23.

PHIVOLCS also advised that communities within a six-kilometer radius must remain evacuated due to potential pyroclastic density currents or PDCs, ballistic projectiles and ashfall, lava flows, rockfalls and other related hazards. Added, local government units and DRRM councils are to prepare communities within the DOST-PHIVOLCS Pyroclastic Density Currents Hazard Map for potential evacuation in case of escalation of Kanlaon’s unrest.

"Simbang Gabi" or Misa de Gallo, is a Filipino tradition that captures the essence of Christmas. From December 16th to 24th—Filipinos rise early before sunrise, to attend dawn masses filled with hope and devotion.

Starting as early as 4 AM, people come together and attend mass as it reflects the deep faith of the Filipino people who seeks for blessings, success, health, and family unity. While many people believe that completing all nine dawn masses grants wishes.

This tradition is integral to Filipino culture, encourages us to embrace the true spirit of Christmas—a spirit of love, unwavering faith and hope.
