ABO GID NGA SAEAMAT KALIBONHONS AND AKLANONS!
From beginning to end. I spent the entire week in Kalibo for Ati-Atihan Festival. And I can honestly say...
This was the best festival experience I have ever had.
Why?
Well, behind the costumes, performances, music, drumming, chanting, art, and culture...
There was something called "sadsad". A freestyle yet deeply connecting and uplifting merrymaking celebration. You don't just get to watch Ati-Atihan Festival... if you want, you can literally take part in it. What I experienced was the most unique community gathering I have ever been a part of. It is open for everyone to join...
I LOVE IT.
That openness, driven by deep rooted devotion... it is so beautiful. Truly when we are open to the world around us... the world becomes a better place.
I feel like I've become a part of the community in Kalibo now. You will only truly understand what I am saying… if you come and experience Ati-Atihan for yourself. I highly recommend it! I had the best experience!
