My 1st sunday of advent marks also my
3rd month Onboard Carship.
This season tells us to prepare
ourselves for the coming of Christ into
the world. On the other side, God also
tells me to prepare myself on what's
coming, I know life recently is not
always smooth seas but then again I still
keep going to my true course
despite of the currents and adverse
conditions because I know there is
something good and joy that is coming.

I am tired. So tired.

I just simply desire the peace most people can conjure in a whim...even just for a moment. For even in my rest? All I feel is restlessness.

Oh to live, and not give a care in the world. To disregard what other people will say if I do something I really mean doing. To dance with the ones I love outside the judging eyes of a society that always has something to say. To love in my own terms with no excuses. To live, as in live, not just for the sake of mere existence.

I want to be free from the very chains that has kept me bound for ages.

"Set me free."

In time. I will.

I can see that somehow, your thoughts are clouded by exhaustion. It's been months now.

I know.

The tedious work and the hectic schedule, changes in timezone, fatigue, bad weather, inspections and audits here and there - all of these sums up to a whirling storm that starts to build up inside your head. It's hard to complain when all eyes are on you. You have a family to feed. You have dreams to achieve. You don't want people judging you for choosing a job that was never easy in the first place. And somehow, someway, stress creeps in and slowly erodes the confidence and tough facade that you built.

Calm down.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Remember the days when you were out there, navigating through the busy streets of a city both promising and unpromising - hoping for an interesting life in the future. You told yourself that you will do whatever it takes just for you to get on board a ship, right? Now, you are there.

When doubt starts creeping in, always try to remember the days when you were dreaming.

I know someday, you will have to choose whether you will stay and strive to reach the top or leave and choose another path.

But right now, as you exist in the present, live.
LIVE life to the fullest.

I know you are tired.
I know you are weary.

So rest, dear sailor.

Rest when you have the chance.

But don't you dare quit on the dreams you built from hope.

Someone is waiting for you back home.
So please, take care.

What you sought after is a job that will require your heart and soul.

It is fulfilling, but at the same time it drains. It hungrily consumes.

Little by little, it'll change you, so if you're content just by simply being "you"? RUN.

Run away quickly and never look back.

An officer's job isn't just all about the fancy decorations and prestige. It's a burden marked with honor, for once you accept it, the lives of the crew are placed upon your shoulders. One small mistake and everything will be gone. Decisions should be firm, your will, unwavering. It requires strength as well as humility. You don't decide just for the sake of making a decision, for every single option entails results that might spell either triumph or defeat.

When you climb the ladder, it's not just about yourself anymore.

Young ones, the path that you're trying to pursue is not for the weak. So as early as now, if you find it hard to work with strangers while away from your family, the only thing I can tell you is to turn around.

Run, run away as fast as you can.

For this job is not for the selfish.

To be an officer and an engineer on board a ship is to abandon the mentality that you alone can survive.

You think you're strong? Think again.

Cause out in the vast blue, the sea is the one who judges. And us? We obey the law of the deep.
