Last March 2024, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zamboanga del Sur led the CY 2024 assessment of the functionality of Local Committees on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (LCAT-VAWC). This initiative was conducted in collaboration with members of the Provincial Council Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (PCAT-VAWC IMT), which includes representatives from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Prosecutor's Office.

During the assessment, the PCAT-VAWC evaluated 26 Municipal Committees on Anti-Trafficking and 1 City Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children across Zamboanga del Sur. Among these, 20 LGUs were categorized as Highly-Functional, 4 as Moderate-Functional, and 3 as Low-Functional.

The functionality of LCAT-VAWC was assessed based on the following areas: Organization (10%), Meetings (10%), Policies, Plans, and Budget (30%), and Accomplishments (50%). LGUs scoring above 81% were classified as Highly-Functional, those scoring between 51% to 80% as Moderate-Functional, between 21% to 50% as Low-Functional, and below 20% as Non-Functional.

DILG Zamboanga del Sur commends the efforts of the LGUs for their commitment and achievements in this assessment.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jenefer T. Teves, one of our active Igmat correspondents of the Provincial Information Office of Zamboanga del Sur. Jenefer's unwavering commitment to truthful reporting and her passion for the community especially in her hometown Molave will always be remembered.
